No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!
Sorry I've been slacking y'all! I know many of you have written about the challenges of trying to work out new routines. Dang, it is a difficult juggling act. The last two weeks have been full of Dr appts, birthdays, birthday parties and guilt. I don't even think I managed to get 1 week's worth of mileage in...Ah well, water under the bridge, lessons learned, (okay, relearned), priorities re-evaluated--on to THIS week.
Kid had to go in to school early to make up a missed PE test (Dr appt due to actual run-in with a corral fence) so I've got an extra amazing 20 minutes before I head out the door for a run. It is not quite light out so I get to hang with you guys, my BVF's (best virtual friends!) :)))
Random question for those who exercise with bangs. How do you keep them off your forehead, out of your eyes? I have my super cool funky Guatemalan cotton headband/kerchief things, unfortunately, they have shrunk in the wash and are now tight enough to give me nasty headaches. I have other headbands, you know the Goody kind you get at Target. The big thick ones are so soft they end up popping off the back of my head. The ones that are like a super size ponytail band stay put a bit better but don't do anything to keep the sweat from running down my eyes. I'm at the point where I may have to go all Jim McMahon with an ugly terry cloth one. Bleah.
Gravity sucks thought of the day: I'm considering going to the lady who does my eyebrows and getting a facial and a consult about moisturizer. I'm getting serious wrinkles. I think it is due part to age and part to loss of my chubby cheeks. I have no interest in having "work" done--but I've never been one to have much of a beauty routine. I'm thinking that my 30+ year habit of wiping my face down at night with a cotton pad soaked in Seabreeze may need a tune-up. I've tried picking up a couple of moisturizers based on their lovely ads--but they all make me feel like I'm wearing a mask and/or they irritate my eyes.
Well, times a wastin, I'm going to check in on a few more of your posts and then go hit the road with my head squeezed just a bit too tight, but my sweat and hair under control! Have a fabulous week everyone!
Comment by fit4life on September 17, 2012 at 10:31am Nice to see you! It is so hard when life gets in the way of healthy routines.
I have bangs, and I have been trying to let them grow out so they are really getting in the way now. This summer I started wearing a ball cap--really a light cotton one--ugh, I am not a hat person, but I was tired of my sweaty bangs dripping in my face. I tuck the bangs up under the front. So the hat gets funky and I have to keep washing it. Now that it's cooling down, I'm in the same dilemma. I have not tried the old "sweat band" route yet.
Comment by Meg H on September 17, 2012 at 10:46am i started getting facials in may. huge difference in my skin now! we had to work out a balance for my skin and i actually now use a different cleaner and moisturizer in the morning and diff ones at night. who knew?
Going bangless was the best decision I'd made for a long time! :P
I used to be a tucker with them if that was the case. The big headbands always seemed so 80s to me. :P
Comment by Lynn on September 17, 2012 at 11:34am Every few years I spontaneously get bangs and every time I do I regret it instantly! I used to clip them off my face and onto the head band. Not so cute, but does the trick every time!
I've missed your posts. Wondering how maintenance is going and how the heck to get to goal so I can join.
Comment by Brandy on September 17, 2012 at 8:19pm One thing that works really well is the Pre-Wrap that most athletes use to wrap their wrists or ankles. They are great as headbands. I know you can get a roll of pretty much any color you want at sporting goods stores.
Comment by Lynette S on September 18, 2012 at 12:13am I use a clip and giant rubber band thingy when I'm indoors or a hat or visor when I'm outdoors. Glad to get your updates, we miss you here!!
Comment by Jill Mace on September 18, 2012 at 10:38am I have bangs (they call it fringe in England) I just let them stick to my forehead. Headbands give me headaches too. I have thick heavy hair so bobby pins always fall out. I have missed your posts! Glad to see you posting again!!!
Comment by Dee on September 18, 2012 at 6:57pm I've seen you in the comments! That counts as participation esp when you don't have time to post. I'm afraid I have no advice on your qs, but I will be watching your comments section for advice!
