No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!
So, I'm up late with little or nothing other than folding laundry and cleaning up the kitchen to do--so I decided to put up a fairly poorly thought out post--and if the kid gets home from the football game before I'm done--well, let's just say this may be a bit of a cliffhanger, LOL!
Are you like me and you care too much? I have found myself laying (for any of you who may be English teachers--sorry, never could remember the laying, lying thing) awake nights, going into work early or on the weekends, torturing myself about my job. I am trying harder to just let go. I am going to make mistakes, I will miss things, things won't always go right. It is okay--just let it go--you are good at what you do and you are getting things done. You are not perfect. Deep breath, LET IT GO! Go for the run and show up a bit later. Don't make a special trip in on the weekend. If things go wrong on Friday after you walk out the door--oh well, Monday is soon enough to fix it. BTW, once again, remember to breathe!
Busy day tomorrow. I am finally getting that long put off facial. My skin has been feeling very blotchy and irritated, but has looked okay the last few days. I'm hoping that nothing tomorrow pushes it over the edge! We've got some fairly random hot, dry, windy weather here--so I'm chalking my skin and super dry lips up to Santa Ana. I've been drinking TONS of water, but still always feel thirsty. I could actually feel two different temperatures on my skin during my run today. The cold morning air mixing with the hot dry winds from the deser. CRAZY.
So, with my new job comes new temptations. I know I've sounded off about the candy bowls at the printers. Have I mentioned free food Friday? We have meetings on Fridays so they bring in lunch for us. Thankfully there is almost always a ginormous salad, so I can fill my plate up with that and graze from the rest. And on Friday morning, it alternates between donuts and bagels. I've been doing pretty well. I've tried to keep my breakfast at home fairly small but protein packed (cause I know the carbs are a comin' later). I've also been taking only half a bagel or donut, telling myself I can always go back later.
Well, kid is home--gotta go. This is my revelation for the month...keeping busy keeps food out of my mouth! Have a fabulous weekend!!!
Sounds like you're a perfectionist and are hard on yourself if you don't live up to your own expectations. I used to be like that at a job I had a while back.
Comment by Cindy on October 28, 2012 at 10:24am I am sure you have an entirely different perspective on jobs and work in general after being off for a while. You are probably more appreciative (than I am for mine, for sure!) and that is coming out in your worrying and working extra hours, etc. Please be careful, though. It is so easy to burn out and become bitter when you're working all the extra time and going into the office when nobody else is there. It's just finding that balance that is so hard sometimes. Don't wear yourself out and certainly don't lose sight of what is most important in your life!
Comment by Dee on October 29, 2012 at 5:53pm Sounds like you have a good plan of attack for all the food ambushes at your job. When will the American workplace learn? On the one hand, constantly complaining about the rising costs of healthcare for company benefits... then offering donuts and bagels. But since we can't change the workplace (not right away, anyway), at least YOU know better!
