No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!
At first I thought I wanted to start over. A clean slate. But then that would negate all the hard work I have done for the past 8 years. WOW! I have been on this journey for 8 years. The first 3 years I lost 80 pounds. The next 3 years I worked at maintaining the loss. I had ups and downs those 3 years. 7 pounds on and off, on an off.... The 7th year of my journey I had surgery on my foot which turned into a LONG fiasco. I ended up on the couch for the better part of a year. The 8 year we moved to England. That brings us to today. I have gained about 15-20 pounds since reaching my goal weight. I have lots of "good" reasons for the gain. Surgery, depression, moving abroad.... but it is time to start taking responsibility again. I want to take this weight back off. I need to take this weight back off. It is time. If I don't get serious now- I will be in big trouble. My next post will be about my commitments. I need your help. I need your support. I know what I need to do- I just need to dig deep, dig my heels into the ground, and get to work. Who will join me????
Comment by LindaB on January 31, 2013 at 8:34am I can not wait until the day that I can say - I have lost - I reached my goal - and I maintained for three years. I'm proud of you.
I am proud fo you for recognizing that it was time to put the breaks on. Looks like you found your mojo and you can certainly count on my support.
So you're looking to drop that 20 pounds again?
Hmmm---IMO, posting commitments won't do you any good without something solid behind it--meaning what plan do you have for making sure that your commitment to fitness (and nutrition) happens daily? How will you make sure that it happens for the long term? And.....what will you do to avoid falling victim to "good" reasons again in the future?
A little food for thought for you during your introspection! :)
Comment by Jill Mace on January 31, 2013 at 8:49am @Keem- you are so right about having something solid behind it. Any ideas on how I can make sure that my nutrition commitments happen daily. How have you avoided falling victim to the good reasons (or as I like to call them- excuses)? :)
@Linda- thank you for your support! You have mine as well!!! This is hard- but well worth it!!!
Only you know what will work with you-but I can give suggestions:
A star chart?(one star for each successful day and after however many stars, you get a reward)
A daily checklist on your fridge that you have to eat the items needing to be checked off first before other stuff?
As for avoiding the reasons--the ways I've avoided them was the promise of something better--when it came to people offering me junk-I could easily say no if the pay-off was a special awesome treat of my choice each week. Looking forward to it made turndowns simple and made me picky about what was "treatworthy".....I've also done the old "Load up on healthy stuff before going to gatherings" thing, too, so holidays/get togethers wouldn't derail me. (and drinking diet 7 up during it)....plus, planning is a big thing--if you have healthy food ready and convenient, if you're short on time, you can't use the excuse that they take too long to make.
Not sure if any of that helps?? :)
Comment by Cindy on January 31, 2013 at 6:50pm Transitions in life are great but they definitely tend to mess with our health! Every move we've made, with the exception of moving here, I've put on about 10-20 lbs and then toy with it coming off and going back on for the rest of our duration. It's just not realistic to focus on every single thing in your life when you have made a big move like you did. So glad you're back!
Count me in. I really like the attitude of not a do-over. You are 100% on. I've come a long way baby and with that said it is a continuation. And I am going to have a happy ending too. So count me in girlfriend.
