The chocolate chip muffin and a helluva long workout

Today was my busy day at work. It seems like in the past few years I have an insanely tough and long day followed by an easy cheezy day. I guess it evens out because now I'm really looking forward to Monday. HA! Not really.

Food was kind of messed up because I tried to bring some different things and then didn't want to eat them. Honestly, it was like I was drugged when I packed my food for today. I ate it all except for the lentils (canned - i'm ashamed). They just looked so gross. I stayed at work late and decided on the way out I was going to Starbux for something full of lots of chocolate. Tired and hungry just don't mix. We all know it. But this was one of those times that I really craved some rich chocolate and I knew if I didn't have it it would come back to haunt me worse. You know those times, right? I chose one of their massive choco chip muffins. I tried to just eat the top off of it but it was too yummy and moist. I think those Starbux muffins weigh like a pound a piece so I will not bother with a search on the calorie count. If I had to guess it would be about 400-500. I'm a little embarrassed to say that it was worth every single bite. But it was.

When I got home I scarfed down two bowls of a yummy and creative salad that my husband made. I went late to the gym and worked out for 100 minutes. I remembered that I used to do this in the past when I was trying to lose weight but much more often than I do now. I think I did partly because I felt a little guilty about the muffin plus I know I won't be able to go tomorrow since I'll be up at school all day trying to catch up on work.

I hope everyone has a happy non-mega-choco-chip-muffin weekend!!

Food (lots of guessing today):

Breakfast: coffee, 1/2 c plain yogurt mixed w/ 2 tbsp almond butter (400)

Snack: nope

Lunch: 1 serving lentil chips w/ baba ganoush (250)

Snack: cherry tomatoes mixed with canned asparagus w/ a little oo and vin (200)

Um, another snack: one Planet Earth sized chocolate-chip-worth-every-bite muffin (~400)

Dinner: 2 bowls of salad - no cheese but lots of protein -  w/ vingr  - not lite but not a lot (~700?)

Total: best guess ~2000

Exercise: 100 minutes of cardio (stair stepper, elliptical, bike, treadmill) - 900 cals

Sometimes we just have to eat the whole thing!  :)

If I was with you I would have helped by eating half!!!

Rather than feel guilty about it- you can count it as your sinful treat of the week when you are around other temptations.  Just tell yourself- I can't because I enjoyed Planet Earth the other day.  I do believe that a big splurge like that once a week can be acceptable as part of a healthy lifestyle.

Mmmmm--I love Starbucks treats.  I also love that they have to put the calorie counts on them here in CA.  It definitely makes you think twice.  Yeah, I would not have been able to stop myself either.

You know what?  It wasn't that bad.  Sometimes you just need chocolate!!  I completely understand the good days mixed with not so good days.  I think the kids alternate.  Fortunately for me, the newness of being in school hasn't worn off yet and the kids are little angels.  Go you for working out!

Somedays are just those jumbo choco-chip muffin kinds of days.  And you owned it, that's what counts.

I'm with Almost There, the calorie counts on their snacks have stopped me more then once!  I'm also with Jill and would have helped you eat it ;-) LOL!  You do have to have some indulges during the week, it's a marathon, not a sprint!

"Tired and hungry just don't mix." Amen, SISTER!!! And I have to agree with you, it may be a "dirty little secret", but sometimes... it DOES hit the spot. The crazy caloric chocolate-y something. Or whatever it is. I get more mad when I eat something that's not-so-good, and it totally sucked. Last week I had two slices of pizza that were sucky and it's like, I'm limiting how much I eat this kind of food, so when I stray, it needs to be downright MINDBLOWING!!! Anyway. I get you!
