No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!
I've been reading and commenting on posts, but I haven't posted myself in a little over a week. I'm in a lull period on my goals. All I am doing right now is running, about 3 days per week, low mileage. Since my epiphany about eating right while eating out, I haven't been to the grocery store much! I am eating well at breakfast and lunch.
The only trouble I run into is at night. I don't really have meals planned, and I often don't feel like going out. So I have been doing a lot of random snacking- I'm talking, popcorn and cheese and crackers for dinner! Or some spoonfuls of peanut butter. Pathetic! I do keep my portions under control, and often go to bed hungry. This is not a healthy state of affairs.
My weight is remaining stable, but I am not losing. I can't bring myself to make a plan because I have abandoned several in recent times. So I will just make a to-do list:
-I need to plan out my workouts so I can get walking and strength training back in the mix
-I need to conquer dinner. Real food, not snacks.
-I need to blog once per week to check in, for accountability on these two to-do items.
Ugh. Onward....
Comment by Almost There on November 2, 2012 at 10:06am great job on breakfast and lunch! Do you enjoy your evening snacks? It wouldn't take too much to round them out into decent dinners. Add in some fresh fruit and veggies.
Comment by Almost There on November 2, 2012 at 10:13am oh, perhaps pump up the protein with the popcorn ;-)
Comment by Dee on November 2, 2012 at 2:35pm @AT, you know what? This is exactly why coming on BTL is so valuable! Your comments just totally shifted my perspective. You're right- I can just nudge this snack mentality into a nutritious evening meal. Instead of fighting it (the mentality), go with it but modify it for my benefit. Thank you so much, I'm gonna put baby carrots and apples on my (now much smaller) grocery list and I'll be fine! Part of the reason I devolved to snacks comes from a good thing- having a nutritious smoothie and nutritious lunch leaves me alot less hungry that I used to be at dinner time. However, I am a little hungry and need something for the night. So I was snacking... and now you've helped me solve that one! Thanks!!!
Nothing wrong with not having a "real dinner". I find myself there too. Sometimes I might just have a brown rice tortilla w/hummus and some fruit. Soup is another goodie that is low fat, low calorie, easy to make and super quick.
Comment by Cindy on November 3, 2012 at 10:24am I know the feeling. I've been in a dinner slump lately. I think it's great that you're keeping the eating under control at night. I find this nearly impossible if I don't have a real meal. Can you pick up a few of those freshly prepared, healthy meals from the store to last a couple of days and just pop them in the microwave?
I really miss your blogging but thanks for always checking in on us and responding to posts.
