No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!

Ahhh, Homecoming.  It makes me nostalgic.  I remember my Senior year and being on the Homecoming Court.  It was the first thing I did in high school that actually made my parents excited.  Not the straight As, or taking all AP classes, or any of my band concerts, or being the lead in the play, or winning with my team in the firefighting competitions.  But that was okay.  :)  As the teacher in charge of the Homecoming candidates and all of the itinerant festivities therein, I had a busy week this week, particularly yesterday.  Everything went smoothly though.  The parade was nice, the halftime show, where all of the candidates are presented, went well, and the king and queen and their court were crowned.  I like to put on a good show!  :)

This morning, I woke up around 8am, went on my run, and now I'm about to get ready to go grocery shopping, then I have to tackle the giant mound (and I DO mean giant) of grading.  I have 100 or so tests to grade, 150 essays to grade, and some smaller assignments too.  Plus grades are due for the first term on Monday so I have to get those ready.  It will be a busy weekend!

I ran 3 miles today!!!  All in 36 minutes.  (That includes my warm up and cool down--once I am able to run at least 30 minutes straight, I want to cut out my warm up and cool down from the calculations to see what I can do).  Without my walking before and after, I run between 10:20 and 11:00 per mile.  With the walking, it's around 12:20.   AND hubby came with me.  I am really excited he did while at the same time being a little dismayed that he hasn't trained like I have yet he could keep up with me.

I am especially excited that he went out with me because he went in for his regular checkup at the doctor this week and found out he is borderline diabetic and borderline high-cholesterol.  It really worried me.  I am freaked out a little bit because he's gained quite a bit of weight since starting his new job, and he's gone all the time.  I don't want to lose him!!  His want to come out with me and to exercise is a good thing.  He's even switched to diet soda--which isn't perfect, but considering he used to get the Big Gulp size of soda on a regular basis, it's a step in the right direction.  :)

Here's the meal plan for today:
B: Considering it's already almost 10 am, I'm going to make some scrambled eggs and toast for breakfast.

L: I'm having leftovers from the Mexican restaurant yesterday and hubby is going to grill some chicken for himself

D: southwest sloppy joes and homemade apple sauce

Congratulations on running a smooth and fun homecoming week AND 3 miles! I'm sure you feel a sigh of relief now that it's over. Sorry about all the grading. You know I feel your pain.

It's great that your husband went out to exercise with you! Getting those lab results is scary. It just seems harder to control with the traveling. I had a fiance once who traveled all the time and finally ended up losing a lot of weight by only strictly controlling what he had for dinner. It seemed to work and he said he didn't feel the added stress of diet and working out of town. I think just having the desire to do something and taking small steps will end up making a big difference.

hey brandy,  I have to tell you a story.  You know I teach special ed, so I have this student who says to me you know my favorite part of homecoming assembly and I said no, what is it?  And he says well what they do is, they get the crown and they go behind one person and they say duck, and they go behind the next person and they say duck and then they go behind another person and they say GOOSE and that person gets the crown.  Then they get the other crown...  And I busted up laughing bc they DO play duck, duck, goose with the crowns and I never thought about it that way before.  My co-teacher said if you ever don't understand something have one of our students watch it and explain it and it will make perfect sense.

Our homecoming is over now and I hope you're enjoying your homecoming weekend.  I've noticed now that I'm not running, my hubby is out of shape bc he would run with me but won't on his own.  I worry about his health, but I think once I start moving again he will too.  At least I hope.

Congratulations on your 3 mile run! That is so exciting! I know I'm excited to start running with my hubby. Keep it up! You'll only get closer as a couple! (or so I have heard... we'll find out!) :)
