Raw #1: Vegan Chocolate Mousse

It was delicious and a great option for when I am craving sweets. It also filled me! With a bunch of cashews, how could it not? Yum.

Trying the vegan and high raw thing for awhile to see how it impacts my health. I've been trying it for about two weeks. I have definitely noticed an change in vision to seeing more clearly/defined than ever before. I tried it because I am convinced that if I focus on nutrition, the weight/physical issues/ etc... will correct themselves.

I've been thinking a lot lately about slowly eliminating most processed foods from my diet--notice I said SLOWLY because going cold turkey would backfire or trigger a binge-and I said MOST because I know it's unrealistic to me to expert perfection 100% of the time since there are times when we're not in control of our menu.

Good job on the vegan thing! I know it's hard!

That sounds utterly delightful! I have watched those food documentaries and I am also convinced about the health benefits of plant based diets. I am avoiding meat and dairy and feel great without feeling like I am out of normal. I didnt like meat much anyway, easy transition. Keep us posted on your recipes and how you feel, I know you will experience positive changes with this lifestyle.

Vegan can be tough, but the closer I follow that diet the better I feel. Is there any particular reason you decided to go vegan vs vegetarian?

I have made some changes over the years which have made this transition better. To be honest, I didn't "plan" on becoming vegan, but it kind of happened after a few things:

1. After I miscarried in October, my eating had spiraled out of control and I knew I needed a change, but felt helpless yet again.

2. Christmas day: out of control. Christmas night: I was Blessed with a stomach bug that cleared me out and I did not eat a regular meal for 4-5 days.

3. I used the above opportunity to restart my system and look into new ways of eating that I had always been curious about but had procrastinated learning about them: raw lifestyle, vegan, vegetarian. On my quest to understand more about nutrition, I became convinced that eating a plant-based diet is the only way for me to prevent feeling shackled by food. I also watched "Forks Over Knives" which has pretty compelling evidence against all animal products.

4. I figured I would "try it" and have eaten a plants-based diet for two weeks now and love it. I am seeing improvements in my life, of which I am not ready to abandon yet.

I think you will love how you feel eating this way! I am working on increasing the proportion of my daily eats that are plant based, and if not plant based, real food, not out of a box. I found a vegan restaurant nearby that helps me meet this goal, since I haven't quite mastered planning/shopping/cooking. I look forward to reading how your raw-venture goes!
