Blog to Lose

No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!

Anyone have any experience with this? I have been inundated with information from this "lifestyle change" from one of my friends and I just don't get it. Why would you eliminate certain food groups? Why not just eat a clean diet with portion control? I understand if you have food allergies but if you don't why should you? I am just curious; not looking to start a debate.

Anyhoo... I cannot believe I have not posted in so long. I have been so busy with the end of the school year activities with the little ones.

I just have to keep trucking...one day at a time...one step at a time..one bite at a time

I don't know much about it. My understanding is meat, veggies, and fruit, right? What is their reasoning for this diet? I know that most nutritionists would agree that these types of foods are healthier than refined foods.... but I understand where you're coming from too. I think people should be educated about foods, nutrition, and health and then do what works for them. Maybe cutting out some food groups works for some people because they can't portion themselves well enough?

Your 3rd sentence hit the nail on the head. I often think of trying some fancy diet like I used to in the past. I've thought of the 17-day diet, the Paleo diet, South Beach, Atkins, etc. In the end, yes, it is about eating the right kinds of foods (and enough to fuel your body) and controlling the portion size. I have too much trouble thinking about anything else that is restrictive or cuts out the right foods for the wrong (and scientifically inaccurate)  reasons.

I agree that eliminating anything doesn't make sense.  You just have to do the lifestyle change along with portion control and common sense.

Maybe they're desperate for you to get on Paleo with them because then they're not alone and have support--maybe it's getting hard for them and they won't maintain it for long alone? Time will tell.

I'm so glad!  I thought I was being a snob thinking about the Paleo diet.  You can't have potatoes (or at least one blogger said), wth?  Potatoes, they're awesome.  I think people just want a fix-it-all and they turn to fad diets.  In the end, it's complicated to keep up with them.  Way harder than just eating smart.  I don't know, maybe I'm too lazy to keep up with a strict diet.

Oooh, I do sound like a snob :p

Thanks for all the comments. Yeah, I just do not see the purpose of eliminating a whole food group. I wonder how long you can do that until your body revolts..hmm...
