No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!
Mr. Spunkmeyer you are a sneaky devil - oh yes you are!
This morning I was in a rush to get all the dogs walked and my kid and I out the door in time for school/work. I didn't prepare breakfast so I grabbed a muffin and ate it with my coffee this morning at my desk.
Then the shock of it set in. I logged my breakfast muffin into Livestrong and saw that a serving size is NOT the whole muffin. It is ONLY 1/2. I had to pull the package out of the garbage to verify what I was reading .... and sure enough.
One 4 oz muffin is 2 servings. 1 serving = 220 calories.
That means that I ate 440 calories with just one muffin. OMG - how many times have any of us picked up a muffin thinking it was harmless and eaten it. Not a Wise Choice!!!
In the last two months I have regularly read nutrition labels ... only this one got a way from me. I will never assume anything again.
Comment by Jessica on February 15, 2013 at 3:45pm Get thee some VitaTops for 'grab and go' muffins. They are awesome and meet the ' wrapped in cellophane' criteria. ( you know, the NEED to open SOMETHING...I can't be the only person....)
One top is 100 calories. And its a good sized portion, goes GREAT with a cup of coffee, just be sure to keep them in the freezer. I left one in the fridge too long and it did go furry Science project on me. ( that took a while. It must have been a month or so)
Comment by Angie Y on February 16, 2013 at 12:15am Im always reading labels. Hubby used to get so annoyed, now he looks too. Not for himself for me. I think that's pretty funny :) I found out the hard way about muffins too... I used to eat them for breakfast A LOT. Now I see them and I seriously imagine a thick gooey carb filled heavy in my stomach ball of yuck. Ew PASS. Those things are the devil. lol
Lesson learned for Linda! ;) Cant go wrong with Fruits for breakfast! Mmmmmm I'm all about grapes and yogurt for breakfast lately. Sometimes I will eat some almonds with it. :D
Those OM muffins are awesome-esp the chocolate chocolate ones--so moist and mmmmmm.
I have a love/hate relationship with some dudes named Ben & Jerry. Love what they have to offer-but hate afterward--hate when the container is empty because I could probably polish off another without flinching--hate that I had consumed as many calories as I did.....hate when I think about how much exercise it would take to burn that amount off........
