No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!
I am abit fed up with myself after this Christmas and New Year. I feel huge:(
I really need to do something but I really love food. I know the only way to lose weight is eat less but the thought of "depriving" myself makes me feel quite depressed. I am also an emotional eater and when stressed each for something sweet ather than a carrot stick!
Look into sites (free sites) like myfitnesspal.com or thedailyplate.com--you can have anything you want within your allotment and when you exercise, you get to eat more. It's pretty flexible and you don't have to give anything up. :)
Comment by Cindy on January 20, 2013 at 11:50am I know how you feel. I think there's a fine line between feeling deprived and being OK with making some sacrifices. It's a difficult thing to balance. Maybe instead of thinking of giving up food first, you could focus on other small things like exercise, getting enough water, etc. Just a thought. It's not easy to do this but it's worth it. You will feel better all around. Hang in there. We are here for support!
Comment by LindaB on January 20, 2013 at 2:39pm everything in moderation. its not good to feel deprived - but it is a good feeling to successfully say "NO" to a temptation that you know will cause you to stumble and fall.
Comment by Kaki Bennett on January 20, 2013 at 3:23pm Moderation is a hard thing to do, but I'm getting there. When I bake cookies, I don't deprive myself, I have one (instead of 5). When we have dinner, I eat what everyone else is eating, just less of it. When we order pizza, I just have one slice (instead of 3). When we go out to dinner, and the portion is huge, I ask for a to-go container right when my food arrives. Before I start eating, I pack half of it away. If I leave it on the plate I can't stop, but if I put it away first, I can do it and feel good about it. t's been hard for me to stop after a small serving, but I try to savor the bites I do take of the stuff I really love. I think the experts are right, if you feel too deprived, it will lead to a bings. It's true in my case, anyway. Don't give up!
Comment by Ali on January 20, 2013 at 6:20pm Instead of thinking about taking away from your meals, maybe you should think about adding. If you take a plate, divide it halfway and add veggies to half, then split the other half and do a lean protein and a whole grain, you are getting your balance. You can still eat what you want, just add more veggies so you don't need to eat as much of your favorite foods. I like to only eat vegetables I love. Maybe you should spend some time thinking about what sounds really delicious- if it's mushrooms sauteed in a tiny amount of olive oil put over steamed green beans, great. If not, then don't force it. If you love salads, experiment with different healthy toppings or just don't pour so many toppings on. I like salad dressings from Trader Joe's, they are low fat and natural and super yummy.
