No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!
What do you do when you are not hungry but you are craving chocolate?
I used to do substitutes--maybe a couple of tootsie roll midgees (if you can exercise portion control) or maybe some dark chocolate cocoa powder and truvia mixed in with plain yogurt. Maybe even a single serving sized cup of fat free chocolate pudding.
Having said that, sometimes, only chocolate will do---like music that soothes the savage beast--in which case you just skip over the pretenses and get to it. A small hunk of dark chocolate to calm the beast. :)
Comment by Tanie on July 3, 2012 at 8:40am You are craving it because of a neurotransmitter (dopamine) in the brain... basically, it's an addiction and when you think about chocolate, dopamine kicks in. When you don't eat the chocolate, you will start to feel sad (again- because of the dopamine). It's really an evil thing.
I was fortunate to get out of this loop when I dropped all sugar from my diet. I don't think this is necessarily something everyone should do, but it seems to have worked for me.
Here is a post from a few years ago about dopamine from another blog-to-lose girl named Maren. http://blogtolose.com/profiles/blogs/the-dopamine-made-me-do-it
Good luck, lady!
Comment by Almost There on July 3, 2012 at 10:49am I tend to go for a little kick of chocolate all wrapped up in a reasonably healthy snack. I try to make a cup of tea too which will make it take longer to eat. Some of my standards are; a half serving of dark chocolate covered soybeans (eat them one at a time), a smore (just one, don't overdo the chocolate) a few pieces of dark chocolate with sea salt (less than 100 calories worth), two pieces of Riesen--let them melt in your mouth. For me the important elements are that it has to take a while to eat AND it shouldn't set me off either craving a bigger serving or something salty.
Hot tea during it is an excellent idea! It makes your mouth all warm so the chocolate melts in your mouth and tastes even better! :)
Comment by Cindy on July 3, 2012 at 1:27pm For me it kind of depends on the time of day. If it's during the day I can usually let it pass because I'm too busy working or too lazy to go out and get something. BUT, usually my chocolate cravings are at night and so far chocolatecoveredkatie's chocolate mousse has been the only healthy chocolate dessert (and low cal, low fat, high protein) that is delicious and satisfies my craving. I completely omit the chocolate chips from the recipe. I basically throw a box of tofu in the blender and add in some cocoa powder, vanilla and sweetener. Here is the link to her recipe. It takes about 3 minutes to make, is delicious and creamy and totally hits the spot.

Comment by Angie Y on July 4, 2012 at 5:46pm I read on Pinterest in a couple of different blogs that if you are craving chocolate ....eat almonds! I am a chocoholic for real! Almonds have turned into my indulgence snack, I love then they keep me full and satisfied a lot longer than a candy bar too!
