Blog to Lose

No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!

Why is it that when I am feeling run down and under the weather I crave food that is horrible for me? When I feel rotten I want ooey-gooey cheesey, greasy food. Burgers, fries, milkshakes. Maybe it goes back to the days of food being used as a comfort. All I know is that when I am feeling bad, that is probably the most important time for me to fuel my body with healthy food. If only that is what sounded good too.

I feel your pain. It's really hard to stay away from those comfort foods. Especially when you are feeling BLAH. Just try to remember that that 5 minutes of greasy food is not worth the amount of working out you will have to do to burn that crap off. Always helps me.

I like to try and devise healthy alternatives to the comfort food.  Don't laugh, but a cheeseburger salad is kinda tasty.  Just make sure it is a decent portion of lean ground beef, and pick a cheese with lots of flavor so you don't have to use much.  Thin baked slices of butternut squash taste awesome (they are NOT french fries though!) and they make the kitchen smell heavenly.  Maybe a banana smoothie with a tiny bit of ice cream or fro yo in it?

Great suggestions. I ended up having chili with a baked potato last night. It was actually really good and hit the spot.

I like making healthy versions of meals too!  I love a Cheese burger salad with chopped tomato, red onion, tomato & most important ingredient of all chopped pickles!!!!  I think I'm going to add that the the meal plan for this week!

Ooo. I love a baked potato with BBQ beef on it!! Who knew that there was more to life than Sour cream and butter?! lol

There used to be a baked potato booth at our county fair. I would get the roast beef and cheddar sauce. Potato seems to have more staying power than a bun...Now I may have to have one for lunch!

I'm sorry you're feeling run down. The 'comfort' can be a horrible enemy but it sounds like the chili and baked potato were a great alternative. Hope you're feeling better already!

It is just this stupid fever blister. I used to get them when I was stressed--but I am not stressed so I don't know what this one is all about. It seems to just be sucking the energy out of me. I did get myself to zumba today (had to earn that 5th sticker for the week) and I'm feeling a little better.
