Habits have a Megaphone
I saw a commercial last night that was funny and brilliant!
It was an ad for some type of yogurt, and the premise was, eat this yogurt, and you'll be so satisfied you'll be able to stick to your diet.
A woman who is trying to eat healthy is followed around her office all day by a man in a suit with a megaphone. All he does is yell things:
"Cookie. Cookie. Coooookkkiieee."
"Chips! Chips! Chips!"
And other things like that. At the end of the day she turns to the little man and says with a smile, "NOT gonna happen!"
It made me laugh because I have a "man" like that in my head! I don't actually see a man (not hallucinating, don't worry!) but it really does feel like there is a force at work pushing me toward my old snack habits. Loud, relentless, hard to ignore, like an annoying younger sibling.
From now on, whenever I feel about to surrender to these habits, I'm going to picture this commercial, which will make me laugh but at the same time remind me that I can be stronger than these annoying little habits.

I have one, too. When I have something in this house like brownies or fudge--or something else I can't keep my mouth away from. It calls and calls and calls to me driving me insane until I can't stand it any longer and consume it! (and no yogurt will shut him up, either!)
Which is why those foods very very rarely make their way into this house! :P

Aaaaaahhhhhh....if only it were that easy to eat yogurt every time that little a**hole was yelling 'cookies' and 'chips' through the megaphone! HA!....I like the humor in it to keep you motivated.
