Blog to Lose

No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!

Is it just me or does everybody have one?  A food police?  The bad part is that she's a dear friend of mine.  However, we both are sporting a few too many extra #s.

Seems every time I'm trying to "be good" she has comments to make.  Or examines everything I put into my mouth or don't put into my mouth.  If I'm counting carbs, she's behind me counting my calories.  If I'm counting my calories, she's behind me counting my carbs.  If I'm good - she's there unintentionally tempting.  When we go out to dinner, conveniently - always has me order first --- even when I so deperately attempt to stall - Why? so that she can make sure that her meal is the healthier choice than whatever I choose for my plate.  Its exhausting!

Funny thing is... when she attempts to get on program with diet & exercise, I don't see hide-nor-hair of her for weeks or months.  Not even a phone call, txt or pump on FB.  Not sure why, I don't try to tempt her.  I usually am the biggest cheerleader and would wish her the best of success.

Here I am - about middle of week two and we have a "girls day" scheduled for tomorrow.  I will try not to say anything about what I'm doing ... but how sad is that; not to share with your girlfriend in fear of having to deal with the food police.

Wish me luck - hope I don't go to the foodie jail.

BTW - If you stumble across this blog, my friend, I still love you ... just need you to encourage me, not examine or judge what goes into my mouth.

I've had my fair share of people like that - friends, relatives, boyfriends, colleagues.....I try to avoid them when necessary - like if I'm feeling particularly vulnerable or something like that.

Maybe she's afraid that if you know she's dieting, you WILL be her cheerleader and so if she fails, she's disappointing you?

She sounds competitive to me...

Want to hear something funny?  It wasn't an "I was dieting" story--but more like a food police sort of thing--my daughter, my husband, and I were out for breakfast--it was a special occasion years ago-and I ordered chocolate chip pancakes with strawberries on top.  When they brought it, the pancakes were huge (but I knew I could pack it away--oh yeah-may not be hungry for lunch later, but, I would down all of that)and my husband remarked, "Man!  Are you going to eat all of that!??" and I snapped back something to the extent of that what I ate or didn't eat was none of his business and that he needed to mind his own business.  He shut up after that.  (He had made a comment a few months before that which was similar so I felt I needed to nip things in the bud before they became habit---besides-I've seen him pack away much more than that before and I don't make comments to him---and to back up my words-my daughter had made a comment or two in the past about my husband's portions and I told her in a nice way--where he could hear--that people shouldn't make comments about other's food because it's not their business---so maybe it stuck with him???)
