No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!
Over the summer, I lost a good amount of weight. I had gotten to 193.0, which is 69 pounds down. I gained 5 the first week in September during a business workshop in Minneapolis, then finally last week, I got back down to 193. However last Sunday after running 4 miles, my left ankle was really bothering me. My overly smart personal trainer boyfriend told me to rest for a week, and despite my best pouting, I took his advice.
This morning, after a week of not working out, I FINALLY hit 192.0, so 70 pounds altogether. There's just something about hitting that next even-10 milestone that always feels good.
Next weight goal:...umm....? Maybe setting something more concrete for the end of the year would get me a little closer to the ultimate 100 pound goal.
If I were to have a 10-year high school reunion, it would be next May. I will admit that I would like to get down to my pre-college weight by then, which is 179.0. I suppose for a smaller one though, I honestly would love to just get rid of 5 more by the end of the year. So there is it, a solid 187 by December 31st.
Going along with my ongoing efforts, Coach Cutiepie has me interested in going Paleo. This is one diet/lifestyle that I honestly had never heard of before we started dating, and I'm still not completely convinced. He has been eating Paleo for about 9 months, but he doesn't do it all the time.
Start with no carbs. Not because of the typical no-carb reasons, but actually because of the amount of processing that goes into getting it to the grocery store and on the table. There are tons of steps involved in processing grains, and the theory is that our ancestors didn't eat like that.
Add in no potatoes, beans, or peanuts. It all has to do with potatoes being members of the Nightshade family, which is actually poisonous, and beans and nuts although go through tons of processing.
Also to start with, no dairy. For the first 6 weeks you have to skip it completely, then start adding in small amounts and see how your body handles it.
It sounds a little absurd at first, and I am horrible at explaining it. Google it, and it may sound a little more appealing. I don't know that I could do it 100%, but kind of taking hints from the recipes to get inspiration for meals. I made an amazing beef stew last night, although I also made beer bread to go with it. Whoops.
He needs me to be supportive when making decisions about what to eat together, and I'm ok with that. It reminds me of how much I needed the Asshole to help me out, and never getting it from him. The bottom line is it's a fairly healthy diet so I can easily do it every once in a while.
Comment by Almost There on October 15, 2012 at 11:35am I am not a big fan of restrictive diets. I am just too contrary to follow all those rules. However, perhaps if you focus on it as a discovery plan to see how your body reacts to different food types. Although you would NEVER be able to pry tomatoes and peppers out of my hands!
Glad that you're making yourself happy. :)
