No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!
Today I was going to run, but I listened to my body and decided I needed a rest day. Some days are just like that! I've been trying to figure out a training schedule that works for me. One that pushes me physically without pushing my body too far (sickness and injury free are a must!). I have checked numerous online training plans--the free ones anyway since I'm not paying money for anything--and each one is a little different. So I've adapted different versions to meet my needs and this next week I'm going to try it to see if it will work for me:
Sundays will be rest days; Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays will be strength training (weight lifting, core exercises); Tuesdays and Saturdays will be my long training runs (3-4 miles); Thursdays will be my fast training runs (1.5 miles where I really up my pace to prepare myself for going faster).
If anyone has ideas or suggestions, let me know. I am going to try this for a week at least to see what I think about it. I've found I need a day of not running after my running days for my body to recuperate. I really only started running in June, but since I broke my arm, I technically didn't get a chance to take it seriously until August, so with being so new to running, I need to remind myself that I can't train like someone who has been running for years and years. I have to build up to that.
In other news, the scale showed I lost weight this week: 10% of my starting weight (since February) is gone. Finally. I still have close to 50 lbs I want to lose, but I'm proud of finally hitting that initial 10% goal!
I tried on a shirt today and realized it really is more like a dress. When I bought it, I definitely intended it to be a longer shirt, but now that I've lost weight, I can wear it over tights for that fall tunic look I have been envying. :) I'll post a pic later. I need to do an entire post that just has a few pictures in it: My new running shoes, my Garmin, and now this tunic/dress thing I'm wearing today. Too bad I can't find a before picture of me in this shirt!
OH, and also, if you keep up with my blog, you might remember the debacle of me buying a dress in what I thought was a large only to find out it was a size 8. Anyone remember that? Well, I tried it on today and....it zipped up. It is still definitely too tight to wear out of the house, but it *technically* fits me now. Super exciting.
It's been a great day!
Here's the meal plan:
B: coffee with creamer and sugar---Hubby and I spent the morning planning an awesome just-the-two-of-us trip this summer!
L: sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit and 1/3 order of green bean fries--we ate out with hubby's family after church
Snack: hubby offered me a piece of his homemade candy. Darn him. Thankfully he only made two pieces--one for me, one for him
D: 2 beef tacos; guacamole with tortilla chips
I will have gone over on my points today. I vow that today is the only day for over-the-top eating this week. :) I want to keep seeing a loss on the darn scale!
Comment by TinaInMunich on October 28, 2012 at 6:32pm Congrats on your first 10% and the dress fitting!! I remember you mentioned it, and yeah, in some countries here in Europe a size 8 (EUR 40) really is considered a Large, and the largest size available in regular stores is a 10 (EUR 42 - XL)... If you're lucky you'll get a 12, but that's about it. And yay on the tunic look! Feeling confident enough to finally wear clothes in a different look than usual is one of the best parts of losing weight :D
Comment by Lynette S on October 29, 2012 at 4:52pm Great loss! I agree about the rest days, really important. Keep it up!
Comment by Dee on October 29, 2012 at 5:56pm Those are some great NSVs! This post is motivating me to make a workout plan... I've been missing some components lately and I know a plan helps to get things done!
Crosstraining is such a great idea!
