Do not dismiss those "lame" workouts

Yesterday I did 2 short DVD's. Cardio Core Express that is part of Slim in 6 & Power 90 Express. At the time I thought what a waste of time. These are too easy. Well today I realized that yes, these are slower, but I am sore in my arms, legs, and butt. Who would have thought. Even though both stated in their DVD's not to be deceived, I thought BS. Now I know better. Either of these would be fine for those days were time is pressed or I just don't want to do more than 35-40 minutes of anything. Today I did Power 90 Sweat DVD. It has been 6 no 7 weeks and it kicked my butt. I do see that Slim in 6 did make me more flexible so I could kick higher. I am going to continue with my hybrid of Power 90 & Slim in 6 until Insanity arrives. I had another great food day too. I want to get rid of some of this weight NOW!

Breakfast - Banana w/tablespoon of peanut butter & cantaloupe

Snack - 1 date & fruit (more cantaloupe, grapes & blackberries)

Lunch - Veggie tossed salad & some bing cherries

Snack - 2 stalks of celery

Dinner - Broccoli Noodle Soup (homemade)

Do you think too much fruit is bad for weight loss? I never knew of anyone who ate fruit & veggies to get fat from them. I know that some Dr's say to limit fruit. But I just love it. It is so low calorie too. I have a really tough time limiting fruit in the summer because all winter it is so limited! Hope everyone else had an equally good day today!

Your momentum is AWESOME! Keep it up!

Here's what I've heard about fruit, but I do not claim any expertise. I've read that when Weight Watchers changed their system to allow unlimited fruit, people started gaining or weight dropped slower. My fave doc blogger, Dr. Barbara, says that too much grain is the real problem, so grain AND fruit can cause body to prioritize fat storage. Doc Barbara says if you mainly eat lean protein, veggies, and fruit, and not much from the grain or dairy categories (or processed sugar), then unlimited fruit shouldn't be a problem. Take from that what you will!

I had a week of tons of exercise and what I thought was great eating and arrived at WW and had a gain I had the leader review my log and she said the only thing she would change was lowering the amount of fruit because I had too much and it's high in sugar... Who knows though because I typically ate the much fruit and had success.

I never thought I'd be saying that I'm glad you're sore but after those workouts yesterday I think that's a great thing! No?! You did a good job working different muscles.

Honestly, my head spins wondering about fruits, fats, artificial sweeteners, bread, etc. I bet if one looked hard enough they could find evidence/research both for and against eating lots of fruit. If you ask me I would probably be more worried about whether the fruit was filling enough since it has very little protein. Plus, it's only during the summer when you eat more fruit so it seems OK to me.

I know there are a lot of theories out there condemning various foods-but, I think that as long as you're eating a balanced diet, everything is good in moderation. :)  Fruit has fiber which helps you.

This is totally based on my personal experience and observations.

I see lots of people at WW meetings talking about how they can't have unlimited free fruit, they can't eat bananas, avocados (I know those aren't free) will make you fat.  I see many of those same people buying the WW snack bars, chips and candies by the caseload when they are on sale.  So I have to wonder, is the fruit the problem--or is this an issue of just eating too much of anything that you think is good for you?

When I joined WW I started eating a lot more fruit (and veggies)--however we are talking about moving from an orange with lunch, a side salad at dinner and maybe a glass of V8 at breakfast to making a conscious effort to include both a fruit or a vegetable with every single meal and at least one to each snack.  A banana while I'm fixing my breakfast, a handful of spinach on my morning english muffin, pumpkin puree in my waffle, some slices of red pepper with my laughing cow and wasa crackers, a ginormous salad and avocados with a small half size serving of meatloaf AND a big bowl of watermelon for dinner, an apple and string cheese after a workout.  I try to not duplicate any produce that I eat during the day (I'm pretty sure that 5-8 servings of only bananas are NOT going to be good for anyone, even a monkey).

One last thing before I hop off my soapbox--make sure you are getting in your protein!  I know it is easy to skip when you feel full on all that tasty fruit--but with all your workouts, you need to keep your muscles fueled!

Thanks for all the fruit advice. As you can tell from my menu's lately that I eat fruit for breakfast and for my snacks. Like Almost states, some folks load up on the WW snack bars or chips and I chose fresh fruit so I am not going to fret too much over it. Everyone here agreed that it a balanced diet that is most important.
