No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!
A good day. Sunday's are always busy. it is my grocery day, cleaning day, prepping for the week day, laundry day. My last week of Insanity and I can't wait to be completed. Finally something I can put in the "done" file. I've been re-evaluating my diet. Maybe I just am eating to much. I do better when I am not at work that is for sure. Someone mentioned I should post my meals so I will do it for a week to see what you guys think.
Breakfast - Plain bagel toasted w/ 1 tablespoon organic strawberry jam
Lunch - 2 Lefse w/ roasted red pepper hummus(Oasis)
Snack - Earnest Baked Whole Food Bar (Choco Peanut Butter)
Dinner - 2 Butt Burning Burritos(Homemade w/veggies,fat free black refried beans
salsa, brown rice rolled up in a Food For Life Brown Rice Tortillas)
The only beverages I have had are 8 glasses of water, black coffee w/breakfast and green tea to warm up since the temps have dropped. Has anyone tried any of the Biggest Loser Exercise DVD's? I picked up the Biggest Loser Boot Camp DVD and am going to try it for a week after I complete Insanity. I think I need a good work out but need a break from the high intensity. I will more than likely include Insanity as my cardio DVD days but it will be nice to change things up.
Comment by Almost There on October 15, 2012 at 11:39am I know I prob sound like a broken record. But I do think you should work on getting more protein in your diet. Especially with your big workouts. Not being a vegetarian--I don't really know the best way for you to do that. Hummus, beans and brown rice are good choices--but I think you need more.
Doesn't sound to me like you're eating too much.
Comment by Erica on October 15, 2012 at 5:20pm I don't think you are eating too much, just not enough of the right things. For me, I need lots of fruits and veggies and protein and not too much carbs. When I do eat carbs I try to ensure that they are whole grain. So I'd swap the bagel for oatmeal & fruit with flax and egg whites, I would swap the bar for yogurt & berries and I'd need 1-2 more snacks that have a decent amount of protein in them & fruit/veggie. I really need protein to feel good. I don't know if you eat eggs but they are a go to for me. Other snacks you might consider are an apple with almond butter, a fruit and a light cheese stick, hard boiled egg and veggies. I'd swap raw veggies for the lefse with the hummus. I also try to include either a salad or very veggie focused meal. So if I made burritos, instead of putting it in a wrap I'd use the filling to top a salad. This way I eat the same thing as my family just slightly modified. HTH
@ Almost There I am going to look at more protein sources. I've read about a runner who started to gain weight after years of being so lean. Once he upped the protein the weight came off.
@Erica Eggs are a good idea, but I don't eat them primarily since they are high fat. I can not get yogurt down & that fact that it too can be mucus forming so it is bad for my sinus. I know I need to focus more on raw veggies and fruits.
Comment by Almost There on October 15, 2012 at 9:54pm @Paula--and @Erica, I definitely 2nd the eggs suggestion! You can really keep the fat content down by using all or mostly egg whites. If I'm scrambling or making myself an omelet I'll use 1 whole egg with an additional white or two. I've read somewhere that just separating your own eggs is much more cost efficient than buying egg beaters. That way I can control the other ingredients too!
