No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!
A good day. I ate well and I did my Insanity workout. I am kind of burnt out since these are intensive workouts. It is not likely I will do another round at least until I rest some. I really liked month #1, but this month # 2 has really turned me off. I am already thinking of what my next workout will be. It is a toss up between Jillian Michael's Body Revolution & Turbo Fire. The pro for Jillian's program is that it is 30 minutes a day. It is 6 days a week, but the fact it is 30 minutes might prevent burnout. I am also considering Turbo Fire as Angie got FANTASTIC results. But it is a very intensive program too and after Insanity, I am just not sure.....I also need to overcome snacking at work. I have gotten so much better, and the choices available are good, but calories are calories. I just hate being hungry. I don't want to go over the calories calculated for me to lose weight, but I don't want to be hungry. Has anyone else experienced this problem? How do you overcome it? My gratitude entries for today
1. I am grateful my job isn't stressful (a bit boring perhaps)
2. I am grateful I ate lunch outside in the beautiful sun.
Comment by Dee on October 3, 2012 at 7:41pm I love reading your gratitude journal entries. Having an unstressful job is NOT a boring item, because I think that job stress is some of the most deadly stress their is. It's wonderful that you appreciate it- I too have a low-stress job, but I sometimes forget to appreciate to value that as I should. My stressed out friends are happy to remind me!
Vegetables are a good thing to keep on hand and snack on. They do satisfy you and keep hunger and wayward snacking at bay. I am partial to my carrot sticks and apple slices. I sometimes do celery, which is so bland I don't enjoy as much, but I read it has such great health properties so I bring it sometimes.
Comment by Brandy on October 3, 2012 at 10:13pm I found I need some protein in the afternoon with my snack, otherwise I feel like I'm starving!
Comment by Cindy on October 3, 2012 at 11:23pm Sorry to hear you're not enjoying this month of Insanity. At least you're almost finished so it's something to look forward to. For the past few weeks I've done at least one 30-40 minute workout when I'm feeling exhausted and not wanting to exercise. What a difference it makes to do something rather than none at all.
I hate being hungry also. It is just a great setup for a binge later on. I agree with Brandy. My afternoon snack is almost always protein heavy. I don't do fruit or veggies in the afternoon unless it's paired with some type of protein to hold me over until dinner. Lately, I've been having a couple of hard boiled egg whites smeared with one or two Laughing Cows wedges. Today I had about 4 spoonsfuls of PB2 (only 100 cals).
Comment by Jill Mace on October 4, 2012 at 12:03am I agree with the others. Protein is helpful. Veggies with hummus. Apple with peanut butter. Greek yogurt with fruit. I put cinnamon in my Greek yogurt and then dip apples in it. Grilled chicken is another option for a snack. Also- if I am hungry I try and drink a bottle of water. Sometimes I mix thirst and hunger up. A cup of tea is also nice with a snack.
Comment by Almost There on October 4, 2012 at 9:33am as you wisely stated @Paula, calories are calories. Perhaps you can find a few spots in your regular meals to shave down the calories, knowing that you will be having a snack in a few hours anyway. If you are a snack kind of person I think it is so important to plan around those mini meals rather than try and do without.
Comment by Karissa Kroblen on October 4, 2012 at 3:01pm How is the Insanity program?? I purchased P90x but haven't even taken it out of the box and used it because I looked at the first few pages and it just seemed like SO much information to process! Where do I even start?? Something I would suggest for snacks at work...I have been steaming carrots and broccolli and come to like them a lot! They keep me SO full and satisfied.
Comment by TinaInMunich on October 4, 2012 at 6:26pm Yay on having a good day! A lighter workout after Insanity sounds good, we don't want you to burn out :) For an afternoon snack, you can try eating an apple, you can slice it and have it on your desk at work, you'll munch on it as needed and it will hopefully keep you full until dinner. If it doesn't, it probably means you need a heavier lunch... And I love the veggies with hummus idea! I'm a great fan of hummus so I wouldn't mind giving it a try :)
Changing things up will definitely help! :)
