No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!
Today was pretty awesome. I was very relaxed because the kids had a sleepover at grammy's house, and I got to go on a date last night with my hubby! We went to Claim Jumper for happy hour and then saw a movie. I ate junk food at CJ's, and had I think 3 beers!?!?! I have no idea what happened. Moving on, we saw the new comedy The Watch. It was a total guy movie and had a lot of sexual references, not my thing but we ended up laughing a lot and it was overall funny but I could have done without all the gross references. We came home and I made myself a bowl of ice cream- and it was so good. I really enjoyed every single bite. I was telling my husband I struggle with weight loss because I am sometimes just content to be married and kind of chubby, my husband is a few pounds overweight and I really don't mind it at all, and he says he doesn't mind me having a little extra. The things that bother me/motivate me to lose weight are:
1- How I feel. I feel gross when my stomach bulges and my thighs press together. When I am working out I feel so energized and happy, and when I am eating healthy foods I feel so much better mentally and physically than when I eat garbage.
2- How I look in clothes- I am short- 5'4", and I am a pear body type, so I tend to get rather curvy in the rear end and thighs areas. I cannot stand when I have the extra on the sides of my legs and it sticks out when I walk. I want that gone.
3- Feeling self conscious at times in certain situations. I would like to not worry if I look pregnant in certain clothes. I would enjoy being able to wear something with a waist that shows and not have bulges.
So I went back to focusing on what I need to do. I have a friend who followed the HCG thing and lost around 30lbs in like 3 months and looks great. Now that she is off the extreme part of the diet, she eats just meats, and veggies. mostly cutting out carbs, having a small treat now and then. So I thought I would try a framework of what she does, cutting out all sugars and processed foods, eating lots of veggies, some fruit, and leaner cuts of meat. Today was my first day and I feel good. I had to go to the grocery store at one point and get some more healthy stuff, so I started out a little off. I am going to plan my day for tomorrow now so I can go into it already knowing what to do. Here is my food for today:
we were out of coffee so I made a cappucino mix for breakfast. Around 100 calories for 1 cup of coffee.
no breakfast, I wasn't hungry after my date junk food.
lunch: tomato slices with turkey pastrami and a little bit of real mayo (unfortunately I love mayo), rolled up.
half a cucumber and a whole red bell pepper, cut up with a little bit of ranch to dip them in.
snack: this was a mistake, I had 2 packets of Trader Joe's trail mix. Cranberries, cashews (yum) and almonds. 400 something calories for both bags.
dinner: 4 meatballs. Another mistake, I didn't know they were so high in calories. I heated up a bag of frozen ones from Trader Joes, they were really greasy tasting and I should have known better. I had them on top of lots of veggies- steamed broccoli, zucchini, onions and red pepper.
snack: just wanted to eat something :o) String cheese and 2 slices of turkey pastrami.
I did make low carb chili tonight and have chicken breasts thawing so I have more healthy sources of protein. I bought a box of organic spinach and tomatoes, lots of cucumbers, and I have all kinds of fun stuff to put on salads like seeds and grapes and dried fruits cheeses and healthy dressings. I am excited to have some yummy salads this week!!
Comment by Jill Mace on July 29, 2012 at 7:03am I like how you thought out what motivates you and put it in writing. I need to do that as well. We have a similar list! I feel better when I eat clean- I just get sucked into cravings too much when I eat carbs!
We all have our problem areas. Mine is a spare tire.
I know I feel so much better when I exercise and eat healthy. I got lazy for quite a while but now I am back at it. Feeling better, being positive and ready to move forward. You sound like you've got things worked out too and are heading in the same direction as me. To get healthy, lean and happy.
