No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!

Hi everyone it's een awhile since I've been here but I am so happy to be back. I found out that I have celiac disease and let me tell you the first full week of no wheat made me feel really tough but I am now learning to navigate this type of diet. However anyone who has to deal with this and has any advice I would like any you could offer. I am finding it hard to figure out the calorie count on some of the specialty flour that i know use not to mention so good recipies. I love fruits and vegtables and am starting to add meat back into my diet a little at a time but I am still finding it hard to do that and stay within my calorie allowance. But I have been here before and am just taking it one day at a time.

Just make sure to read labels carefully. It's amazing what they sneak wheat into! My Mom has celiac, discovered this going on 12 years ago. Labeling is much better than it was then, since gluten-free is 'trendy'. lol ( I actually prefer the Glutino GF Pretzels!) The Udi's bread is pretty tasty too. Not the most calorie friendly, but she can at least have a grilled cheese or French Toast fix every now and then. Progresso Soups are a staple.She uses their Cream of Mushroom ( wheat-free!) to cook with. She will also make a GF cake, freeze into individual portions and if there is a party or meeting where cake will be served, she brings her own. - That may help you, with the holidays coming!

Welcome back. I've heard of celiac disease, but don't know much about it. What kind of flour are you looking for? I use brown rice flour and the calorie count can be found on calorie king.

If it was me, I would join online celiac support groups for tips, recipes, etc.  Lots of research will help you! :)
