No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!
I love this proverb: "Habits are cobwebs at first; cables at last".
I definitely see the wisdom in it as I work on my weight, diet, and fitness goals. My dietary habits are still cobwebs, but I have to keep in mind that this is normal, and with persistence, I will have cables of healthy eating in place. However, I need a bit more action in my coffee than I've been getting lately.
I went on two back to back mini-vacations, the first to Vegas, a place I love. Then to San Francisco, a place a love even more. The bf and I drove 9 hours from Sacramento to Vegas, and back again. Then I did a quick overnight to SanFran with my mom. That's only a two hour drive.
I ate like my habits were cobwebs during this vacation time!
Exercise was ok; I got 3 miles on a treadmill in vegas, and about 4 miles total the rest of the week. I'm ok with this low mileage, because it's time to bump things up to prep for my half-marathon in October. So I'm glad my body got some extra rest.
The only thing I'm not happy about is zero strength work, after several weeks of sticking with it. I had an alternative workout I could have down while on vacation, really simple, but I just refused to do it. This is why I really need that BodyPump class. There are only two classes per week that fit my schedule, so I just push myself to GO, since I have few options, and I'm paying for the membership just to take this class.
I was tracking my calories on a nice clip before the vacation, and then stopped. I'm picking it back up today. I am determined that I will end August MUCH better off than July, which was a very low point in my health commitments overall.
No weight loss. And I'm not surprised one bit.
Next time, take some bands with you so at least you have something. Can you imagine the look on your husband's face if he tried to carry your suitcase after you packed a pair of 10 pound and pair of 5 pound weights in it? :P
Welcome back Dee. I've missed seeing you here. I am still in the 10 by 10 challenge. I'll keep you posted on the progress. Why the heck is eating healthy so dang hard for me??
Comment by Nubia on August 13, 2012 at 11:08pm Great quote, thanks for sharing. It'll go on my fridge (no quotes there yet!) b/c it really struck a note.
Comment by Cindy on August 14, 2012 at 12:00am Now that's a super quote that I've never heard. I really like it!
I know you feel like you fell off a bit during the mini-vacations but you did get exercise in and you didn't gain. I call that success for 2 vacations and now you have your eye on October!
I've also really missed your presence on the blog. You always have great insight and advice. :)
Comment by Dee on August 14, 2012 at 7:12pm Aww, thanks all for the warm welcome back, and I was only away for a week! Such a great group of women here! So much support. Glad you liked the quote, I'm finding it motivating too.
Comment by Megan on August 15, 2012 at 8:36am awesome quote! I'd like to think every time we make a healthy choice it makes that connection stronger to make that choice again.
