No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!

I've had pretty lukewarm feelings about yoga and contemplating just giving it up. Why waste an hour on gym time on something I don't like if it's not helping? But I've been going once a week because I do need to work on flexibility somehow. The other day I slept weirdly and woke up with lower back pain, and I wasn't sure about whether yoga class would help me or make it worse, but I think it actually helped today! Still hurts some, but I feel like I have a better range of motion, so that's a plus.

I also did 10 minutes of running in five two-minute blocks separated by one-minute walk breaks, and my knees feel fine. This is a very good thing and I hope it stays that way as I add more running and move from the treadmill to the road.

I really need to go grocery shopping. I'm completely out of fruits and almost out of veggies, which doesn't leave much for healthy snacking. I guess I don't have much in the house for unhealthy snacking, either, so there's that...

Hello Martha.  What type of yoga do you practice?  Vinyasa flow or a more fast-paced practice?  I used to practice yoga daily and found that it not only helped mentally, but physically as well in terms of flexibility.  I am hoping that I will be able to get back to that with dedication, but I am going to work on the actual weight loss first. I wonder if you would enjoy Pilates a bit more than Yoga.

I think just like in most other aerobics type classes that so much of it depends on the instructor. I'm glad it helped your back. I love yoga but don't like it when it's too easy/relaxing or too difficult. 

I'm right there with you. I MUST get to the grocery store tomorrow!

Unfortunately, my problem with yoga isn't that it's boring, but that I'm terrible at it. I like the instructor, and she offers different modifications on some poses so that each student can make it as easy or challenging as they'd like, but even the easiest ones are tough for me. I do feel like it's getting a little bit easier than when I first started, so that's encouraging. I'm still the least flexible in my class in spite of being the youngest by a pretty wide margin.
