No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!
I'm one of those people that NEED for other people to know my plans because it helps to hold me accountable. If I tell someone else that I am going to eat (or not eat) something or that I am going to workout a certain number of days, I am far more likely to make those things happen. It is probably partially my people-pleaser personality and partially my competitive spirit, but I just don't like for others to know that I have failed.
I am also a former elementary school teacher. I taught 2nd grade for 7 years before having my son and staying home with him. It is amazing how something as simple as a sticker could motivate kids to do their best--and apparently I'm not too different. Haha. So I decided to put that plan into place for myself. I created a sticker chart calendar to track my workouts and posted it on my fridge.
On a whim, I posted a picture of the first week completed on facebook. I have been surprised at how many people have commented on the picture or mentioned it in person when I saw them. Uh-oh. Now I have to keep it up. I certainly don't want people to think "Yeah, she posted a picture one week, but she already fell off that bandwagon" So in one swoop, I have used both things to help me stay accountable. I have motivated myself with stickers...and I have told MANY people my plans to help me stay accountable.
Great idea!

Comment by Cindy on January 12, 2013 at 8:41pm Accountability is so important. I love the sticker idea. I am also a teacher (high school) and another teacher had suggested the sticker idea. I love it but haven't put it in place yet.
