Blog to Lose

No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!

I woke up today determined to get out of this funk. So, I went on a 20 mile bike ride. The last Sunday of the month is the long route where it's circuit that's 20 miles long and about 10 overpasses that you have to climb towards the end. Not easy! It took me 2.5 hours since the first 30 minutes was pretty slow going and there were tons of people out there today. The weather was perfect for riding and there was some promotional event thing or whatever. I thought I was going to wreck several times despite how careful I was being. I really hate when people bring their little toddlers out there and they hog up the MIDDLE of the street freaking teaching their kid how to ride. The little kids are usually crying cuz they're scared or even if they do know how they are just ALL over the place. An experienced rider riding in a mostly straight line with a lot of control still has no guarantee whatsoever that someone is not going to dart out in front of them because they are oblivious to anyone else around them. Adults did it too. One man was on a pretty expensive bike and he looked like he knew what he was doing but he looked down for just a split second (we were in a faster part) and then some other adult in front of him stopped dead on in the middle and the poor man toppled all over himself and lost control of his bike trying to get around the stopped guy (who never even bothered to move or say sorry). Thankfully, he wasn't hurt. Guess who was riding right behind all of this action and almost lost complete control herself. Yes, that would be me. I couldn't wait to get to the overpasses where most riders won't go and they just turn back before that. In all, it was still very fun but I felt a bit dangerous. It seemed like number of people who usually ride was like doubled!

I am really exhausted now but it's a good exhaustion that I'm very happy about. Eating was also good today. To boot, I am THRILLED we have TWO 4-day work weeks coming up - this one and the next one. So happy!

Thank you for all of your kind words yesterday. They really meant a lot to me. xoxo

I taught my daughter in our driveway and then we went to the high school on a Sunday and practiced in their parking lot until she had good control. :)

Bike riding is a great form of exercise for body and mind. It has helped me many times to just clear my head. I am happy to hear you're moving out of the funk. You've been through a lot. I must admit I am jealous you're having two 4 day work weeks. Enjoy them as you really earned them.
