Can I have movie theatre popcorn???

I am on WW and we are going to the movies tonight, we usually share a regular popcorn with butter.. sometimes dill pickle seasoning.. HOW bad is that for me?
its only 1/2 the bag.. i know i could pop my own and bring it in.. BUT who wants to do that :(
POPCORn is my LOVER LOL.. i have never ever gone to a movie and passed on the popcorn.
I know 3 cups of movie popcorn is 3 points.. so say there are 12 cups in a regular popcorn (guess?) so thats 6 points.. and butter.. what do you guys think that would cost me?

I hope this helps: I own the HG cookbook, and they say that a small container of popcorn from the movie theater has about 400 calories and 25 grams of fat without butter. A large container with butter is 1,500 calories and 130 grams of fat. I think that makes the large about 40 points. Since it's popped in oil, and then they add extra butter to it, the stuff really adds up!

When I did WW here's what I did... since 1 cup of movie popcorn (w/out extra butter) is 1 point, I'd purchase a CHILD's SIZE portion, which I figured was between 4 and 5 cups of popcorn (w/ small diet drink and throw away any candy or give to your SO). Then I could have my popcorn and eat it too! Check to see if there's that option.

I think it also helps to remember that WW isn't about deprivation - it's about compromise and planning. If you really, really want that popcorn at the movies, portion out a specific amount that you will eat and eat no more than that. You will be in control, and you will be fulfilling your need to indulge in the full movie experience. (Can you tell that I am also one who needs popcorn in order to fully enjoy a movie?? Heck, if I'm going to pay $10.50 to see the movie, I'm going to make sure I get the whole experience!) Just remember, you are the one in control!

Best wishes - I hope you enjoy your movie!

I am the same and will not go to the movies without popcorn. Can't happen. I can't lie: I just choose to eat the popcorn (without butter) as a meal...that is how I eat my points...I also try to work out a little more on those days as well to compensate. Popcorn is worth it!

That is what I love about WW: if you really puffy heart something...then you can have just have to make a decision and figure out how!

I'm the same way with popcorn at movies. A small WITHOUT butter is 9 points for the whole bag. I usually have to save points if I'm going to do that. Another trick is I bring I Can't Believe it's Not Butter "spray butter" in my purse to use on the popcorn!

I'm like Awilt...if I am craving the popcorn, I'll get a small and just consider it my dinner, lol. Maybe not the healthiest thing but then I don't feel deprived, I don't go over my points, it's a win/win situation! Best of luck with that...I'm faced with going to the movies TWICE this weekend (maybe even 3 times actually) and I hope I'm able to keep everything under control!

Thanks so much for your comments.. I have decided what I am going to do though.
I am making 7.5 cups of air popped popcorn, and I bought that Bacel spray butter (thanks Tricia) which says its 0 calories for 5 sprays!!!
that way i can have lots of popcorn, and add a little dill pickle to it and now go over my points :)
lets see how BAD it will be though, my boyfriend is buying popcorn.. and sitting beside me eating it...

That sounds like a great idea! I'll have to do it sometime...but I will need to get a bigger purse!
