The mirror

Just walked in front of my mirror wearing shorts (I live in Miami, forgive me) and noticed my leg muscles. I felt proud when I saw them.  Then I walked around and tried to flex them from all different angles.  Probably almost injured myself.  Oh well!  Didn't have those like this last January.  Didn't have some other things too.   Like a better developed sense of confidence and self.  It was not a perfect year, but no year will ever be perfect.  I think this was actually a very nice year and…

An Ode to 2010

I write this hours before the end of 2010 drops in the states and it definitely hasn't been my favorite year, but in this short time many things have changed and I believe continue to change for the better.

Checking In

After my weeklong trip to Texas, I posted about the damage. I was pretty sure that it was not a true 2.4 pound gain and I wasn't going to panic about it. Today I knew I was heading back out of town and I wanted to peek to see how I was doing. Sure enough, I was down 1.4 pounds since Wednesday, leading me to believe that it truly wasn't that big of a gain. I have high hopes that I can get the other pound off…

Goodbye 2010, Hello 2011 (and some pictures)

The past few days I've been feeling sick so unfortunately there has been a lack of exercise, good food choices, and the desire to care about those things. So tonight I will be spending New Year's Eve on the couch, watching a House marathon, trying to make the cinnamon rolls again per my mom's request. Best decision ever.

Of course I'm also reflecting on the past year and what I hope to do in 2011. What did I do in 2010?

- Graduated summa cum laude with two degrees and…

The Stomach Flu

Well, it's one way to stop the bad eating habits I've had the past two weeks.  I came home from visiting my parents yesterday (flew instead of driving) and when I came home, I was soooo sick.  I climbed into bed with a bit of nausea, which became a fever of 101 (with Tylenol), chills, aches, and extreme stomach pain.  I almost woke up the hubs to take me to urgent care--I've never had that much pain from stomach cramps.  I never got sick though.

I haven't eaten much today…

Happy New Year

I hope everyone has a happy and safe time tonight ringing in the new year.  We are actually staying in this year.  I haven't blogged here in a while because I really didn't know how to express how I am feeling or how I want to say it.  I was diagnosed with neuropathy this year.  One of the side effects of the medicine I have to take for it causes weight gain.  Since I started taking it I have gained 15-17 pounds.  I stopped taking it for a while and went right back to tremendous pain in my… Continue

71 days left til 10K: Goodbye, 2010.

MAN, I woke up on the wrong side of the bed, with the wrong foot, with the wrong attitude.  I am Cranky McCranky Pants right now and I could not care less.  My client, whose policy would've brought in $350 to my empty wallet, just now told me his son had taken care of it.  Taken care of it?  Yeah, he already bought one somewhere else!  Oh, well.  Thanksomuch for wasting a whole week, man!

Anyway, it's ok.  It's a numbers game.  But he and his son can so GO F*....  themselves.…

Not Diet Sodas.... - Calorie Free beverages....

I'm set for food ideas for the moment - but I'm really struggling to come up with Calorie Free beverage ideas that don't involve diet soda.

I'm not swearing off of soda by any means, but I'm trying to drink much less of it as the sodium isn't very good for me, and I shouldn't use it as a substitute for healthier beverages like water.

I love water, and I LOVE ice tea - but what else have you found to keep things interesting in the beverage department?

Dusted off Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred...

Cause I thought I was up for it.  Pretty cocky I guess after yesterday's run.  Well, Jillian brought me back to planet earth and gave me some humility.  OMG, that kicked my butt - and it was only level I.  I am in a pool of my own sweat (TMI, I know!).  I'm writing this and can still feel my heart pounding in my chest.

Getting ready to take a well deserved shower!  LOL!  Will be going to my mom's this afternoon for lunch and then back home for a quite New Year's…

NYE!!!

I usually don't make any plans on NYE.  I don't like fighting the crowds, cabs or cold.  BUT, I decided to go out with one of my fellow single gals who happens to live downtown Minneapolis, so hopefully it'll be easy and fun.  I'm sure it'll be fun.  In preparation for my sure-to-be crazy night, I did get a workout in this morning.  I'm sure it won't offset my calorie consumption tonight, but at this point I'm really focussing on getting into the exercise regularly habit and just feeling…

I did it!.....Kind of..

I was supposed to be finishing C25K by tomorrow night, right? Well. I did. Kind of.

Since it gives you the options of running the distance, or the amount of time, I have been taking what is probably the easier way, and running the time. I pretty much skipped a whole week though. I did Week 8 Day 1 last Friday, then on Monday I added one minute for 29 minutes. Today, I should have done 28 minutes, but I added…

The 1 Drink Hangover

So, I didn't get  a chance to eat dinner before going out last night like I had planned.  I ended up showing property until 6, then working some more in the office in preparation for more of the same today.  Then, by the time I figured out an outfit and got the kids straight it was time to go out.  I had 1 margarita and dinner--chicken with coconut, beans/rice. and i only about 3/4 of the chicken and a few bites of the beans and rice.  Then we went dancing--proud of myself for that, that's…

To end 2010

I am sitting in my living room in my running clothes, and I am about to head out for a NINE mile run.  It's not my longest run ever (that was on my birthday in September when I ran 10), but it is a big one for me all the same.  I've been dreading it since I finished my 8 mile run last week.  I am still working towards my half marathon, so I am upping my mileage every week.

This is how I am ending 2010.  As someone who ran all year.  They weren't always great, long, or consistent runs,…

Made a Mindful Decision About My Exercise

I am very happy about the progress that I have been making with my exercise.  I've come a long way with my Malibu Pilates workouts.  At first I could barely do the exercises and had to use the light tension.   I also had to modify exercises that I just couldn't do the proper way.  But in less than two months I have made great strides.  I can do all the exercises with the heavy tension and I don't have to modify anything.  Each…

So wild

how things can change in just a mere 24 hours.

Posted yesterday that I was feeling very low (and thanks again to all of the lovely ladies who commented to cheer me up!) and then today...

Received some amazing news. Can't talk about it just yet, but suffice to say that I am pretty over the moon.

More news soon.

Happy New Year!

The Beginning

I guess my goal today is to be better than I was yesterday.  One day at a time......seems like I've heard that somewhere.  I'm confident I can reach this goal.

At 350.4 pounds, I am as heavy now as I can ever remember.  I have continued to shove food down like I'm preparing to hibernate. The only problem is I'm not a bear.

You see, until now, I have had no desire to police myself.  Sure I have had one successful attempt at losing weight.  I lost 96 pounds and…
