November 2015 Blog Posts (29)

My sister finally moved out, they got a great apartment down the street and they're comfortably away from us. Lol, I love her but we don't agree on A LOT of stuff... like eating. I like recipes and trying out new crazy foods, she doesn't like brown rice. To say the least.

Anyway, so I've been back on weight watchers for three days now. I've "lost" 1.5 lbs from water and who knows what, but I like that it's worked before and it's working now. I'm sticking to the thought of doing what… Continue

Weekly Update - 11/29

Weight - Down 0.2 pounds, even though it was Thanksgiving

Exercise - hit the treadmill for 35 minutes 6 days this week. I even found 1 pre-programmed run I like.

Food - I made mostly good choices & didn't get stuffed on Thanksgiving

I am teaching myself about hunger. I mean teaching myself true hunger. One trick I have been trying is after I eat a meal I wait 20 minutes before I eat more. Most times I find I am not hungry. At… Continue

My Year in Review - 11/27

Most people start their year January 1st, but for me it is the end of November. The reason being is it was last November when I went to a doctor. Something I did not do for many reasons, but the major one is because I did not want to get on the scale. I had not been on a scale for quite a long time, but I had to go to the doctor since I was sick. Long story short, I weighed more than I wanted to. it was at that point I decided I needed to get serious. It has been SLOW, but I am moving forward.… Continue

Well this is one of those. of course it's that time of month but I'm in control of food, I have a sick kid so not maybe doing as much activity. But it pissed me off cause I'm 7 pounds away from hitting one of my big goals of being under or even at 200 by the new year:( I'm so close but this is not looking great on the scale right now.

for your weight what are you guys eating for…

Lark, a new app for food and fitness motivation

A friend of mine mentioned she was using a new app called Lark. As she described it, I decided I'd like to give it a try. It's free while in "beta mode". So far, I like it. I've used it for a whole week now.

I've had a dilemma for awhile now, in that I realize I do better on my weight and fitness goals when I use trackers... but I get tired of using trackers. Yet whenever I do, my performance and diligence improves. I figured out that tracking is just how I keep my radar on my health…

This post just displays how the app Lark interacts with me about my daily food and fitness choices. It goes with my fuller description of the app in this post. …

One week review and a cool motivational blog post

So... on November 6 I set some goals for the week of 11/9-11/15. A quick review of how I did: yikes, I blew it!

I didn't really log carefully either... I vaguely recall being busy and skipping meals then eating crap when I got home. A lot like this week is going.

I did no walking home; I think I did cook and bring leftovers once. A lot of skipped breakfasts. Sigh. This process does not proceed in a straight line. And I actually only worked out once, instead of getting more…

Wheat Free Week 3

Week 3? or is it week 4? All I know is I feel better. My skin is clearer. I am sleeping better and I am having less depressive thoughts and I am not crashing in the afternoons anymore. I also am waking up without an alarm and I have lost 4lbs. But I have had withdrawal symptoms which are not so fun. But it is easier every day. The force of habit is the worst part but I am learning to deal with it.

I resisted cronuts at a group run on Saturday. That was one of the hardest things I… Continue

Another Check-In

I made it back to a weigh-in last night. It's a crazy time of year with so many other things going on. I love my meeting and get there as often as possible, but sometimes it just doesn't work out. I was down 0.6 Not as much as I would have hoped since it was for a couple weeks. I was down more on Friday but had a few too many indulgences over the weekend. The holidays are on their way--do you have a game plan?

Treadmill running

I got a treadmill about a week ago. I was continuing my runs outside, but it is getting too dark after work to continue them outside so I got on the treadmill for the 1st time. I am not sure if I like it or if I run as fast as I do outside. It is different for sure. Any opinions on this topic? Do you think you get as good a run on a treadmill?

Being sick...

Hey everyone,

It's been a few days since I've posted anything - I just wasn't near my computer..or rather, I couldn't bring myself to open it.

I haven't been feeling the best lately. I work in a retirement home and one of the residents had a bad cold - I think I caught it. It's starting to go away, thankfully! I had the weekend off so I spent the majority of it in bed sleeping, willing myself to get better for my upcoming work week. I've tried to eat as healthily as I could,…

Recipe Share

Hey ladies, I just have to share this recipe with you.  Its a healthier version of a pumpkin late that you can make at home.

You can make it with or without the protein powder depending on if you are using it in place of your morning smoothie or an after dinner treat on the upcoming chilly nights.

Pumpkin Late:

Ingredients (makes two servings)

- 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

Stay Positive on a Crappy Day - It's About Your Mindset!

Okay, so today wasn't the best day. To be honest, it started around about 10 PM last night. I don't know what happened but I wasn't able to fall asleep because I had too many things on my mind. A lot of it had to do with the doctor's appointment I had yesterday - a lot happened that I'm not willing to disclose to the entire world. The guy I'm dating also had a crappy day, so he came over around midnight and we spent some quality time together before he had to go home to work on some things…

Trying New Things

Hey everyone,

I hope you all had a great start to your week. I've been really trying hard to find recipes to help me on my new healthy journey in life. Today, I tried not one, but two recipes that were new to me.

This morning I made myself some egg muffins with zucchini and cheese in them. If you're interested in the recipe, you can…
