shit storm-- seriously.

"The shit hath hitteth the fan" in more then one way.

My immune system is weak therefore I am once again stuck with a sore throat, earache, and congested-- I pray I'm over it by Monday morning.

And the guy I was seeing-- well we're over. We went out on a second date and everything was going swell. He paid for everything, he wasn't too touchy with me, and he was a gentleman in every sense but then my 'girl alarm' started sounding very very loudly.

For instance, while… Continue

Stuck

I've recently discovered the TV show "Drop Dead Diva" and I really like it. In addition to Drop Dead Diva, there are quite a few shows out now featuring "larger" leading ladies (such as "… Continue

End of week 5

So tomorrow marks the end of week 5....

5 weeks of working out Monday through Friday, and 20 minutes on Saturday - me the non exerciser! I can not believe it. Not to mention that I completed a 55 minute work out today on my Gazelle. My personal goal is to get to 60 minutes and I will make it.

I ususally work out after work, however this week I had some challenges. Tuesday there was an after work party and Wednesday after work there was a dentist appointment for…

Sweet & Tangy Salmon

This has to be one of my absolute favorites! Thanks to Roni for solving my sweet/salty sauce quest!

http://greenlitebites.com/2008/01/16/quick-sweet-tangy-salmon/ (whether she realizes it or not! ;) ) I kept trying soy sauce and Splenda, Soy sauce and sugar, never dreaming that honey and Worchestershire sauce was the magic key! I add it at the very end, and use the residual heat from the burner (electric…

Down 3 (and a little TMI)

The past few days I've been really motivated and driven, despite the fact that there's been no weight change. Actually there was even a .2 gain... So because of that I've been super careful with what I've consumed and really kept to the VLCD that hCG requires. I attributed the lack of weight loss to water retention, less BM the past few days, and just getting my period. I even researched it and doctors say you will not lose anything while on your menstrual cycle (on hCG). So I wasn't all too… Continue

For Willow

Thanks Willow for the encouragement. I went to a new slimming world club running last night just 5 mins, car journey from here and enjoyed it especially since it was a food night where people prepare some of their favourite dishes then everyone gets to taste. I had turkey chow mein, Moroccan stew and pasta salad, then 3 different deserts based on sugar free jelly and fat free yoghurts, meringue and mousse. Yum yum and all low syn or free food which means you can pile your plate. Folks…

One Month Mark

So I have been diligently counting my calories for one month and I have made my goal of losing five pounds. It feels really good to hit the mark but more than that I have more energy then when I started. I am amazed at what a difference eating less junk makes to your health. The next month will be a challenge because this is usually where I get over confident and start to slip up. So I will need to come up with some new ideas on how to stay on track. I haven't started my new job as yet so I… Continue

Struggling...

I am really trying to be good, but it really is hard with my school schedule. Plus the stress of school is not helping either. I am not sleeping either. I need to get a plan though... before things get out on control. Just not sure where to start :(

No Loss... :)

I was really ramping up with a steady loss last week, and now my salty days have put a halt to that. Bummer...I will be drinking tons of water and trying to watch my portions. On the bright side, even though I was dejected by my salty days, I worked out hard in the gym watching the new Law & Order: Los Angeles. I kinda like it (I am an SVU devotee).

Subway Breakfast Review - I won $25!!

I was one of the lucky winners from Roni's drawing for a $25 gift card for Subway. In exchange I agreed to try their new breakfast and tell you what I think. So here goes:

My husband and I went this morning and got breakfast. I chose the Western Egg and Cheese muffin.

I had my choice of a whole wheat english muffin or flatbread and regular eggs or egg whites. I chose the muffin and egg whites. The western egg…

Awww! Give me a BREAK! ;P

This must mean that I have shedded most of my water weight. It's down a half pound from yesterday, so my complaint is null and void.

I had a good day yesterday. Later in the evening, Hubby requested a pizza. I tossed a Totinos in the oven for him and made my own on a Flat Out. Toasting it for a few minutes helped tremendously. The toppings didn't slide off of every piece I picked up. Topped with some crushed tomatoes, RF provolone, 4 pepperonis and some green… Continue

Sore all over and it feels great!

I can feel that I've been working hard and I love it. I'm crossing my fingers that I can keep this momentum going. I'm not sure if I've posted since I ran on the treadmill. I didn't run for very long because my class was starting but I was definitely liking it. I didn't have any music, but I was having a conversation with the girl next to me, so that kept me going. It looks like rain this weekend, so I'll try it again then. Tonight, spinning, tomorrow morning, "AM Attack", which involves… Continue

worst day yet...

I am a social worker for our state's child protection agency. It is my passion; I love empowering parents and kids in making better choices in life. By far the toughest part of my job is when I have to remove kids from their parent only second to telling kids that they will never be reunited with their parents. Well yesterday, I did both.
I had to hospitalize a 17 yo who uses every kind of drug to mask his pain and then attempted suicide. I had to testify against his mother in court; she is…

Just a number...

Is anyone else a huge fan of the Biggest Loser??? I have to laugh because in previous seasons I remember sitting down with some girlfriends watching it and pigging out because we thought there was no way we'd end up like that. Of course we haven't, but it was definitely not a great choice.

Anyway... the show is now more than ever a great motivational tool for me because if someone that's maybe 3 times my size can do it, so can I. I started to watch a previous season in…

Food 9/29

Don't really feel like saying a whole lot, but wanted to put up my food for the day. I did calculate today that I will be working over 70 hours at 4 different jobs in the next week, so I am pretty certain there will not be a whole lot of working out....

*Breakfast:

1.5 cups of Oatmeal squares w/ nonfat milk, 1 honeycrisp apple, green tea

*Snack:

Peanut butter chocolate crunch cliff bar

(If I had realized I was going to be relieved for my lunch break as early… Continue

Today=Total Fail!

I'm discouraged! Funny how I can go from yesterdays post where I was happy with the week to todays post where I feel like crap. I was starving today and had nothing in the house to eat really so I ate a random assortment of crappy food. It's not that I went totally crazy, I wasn't ordering cheeseburgers or anything its just that I didn't track at all and had a 3:00 binge. The whole issue started at about 1 am, I forgot to take my pill so I had to double up which made me so sick to my stomach I… Continue

Conservative Goals

Are you like me in that every time you start a new diet or workout regime you want TO LOSE SO MUCH WEIGHT SO FAST? FASTER!!!!

Like that? I always want at least 1.5 pound a week, which is healthy (but totally uncool in the Jackie Warner world-- y'all watching that?)

Anyway, that's how I think. So I'm trying a new approach. My goal is 3 lbs/month. I think I can do that really by doing what I'm doing: lots of exercise+ sugar free diet around…
