Running that is! I've been toying with the idea for a few weeks, and I finally started tonight. I actually used to run cross country in high school, but it wasn't something I was serious about. I really, really, REALLY want to run a 5K, so I needed to start somewhere. It's definitely going to take baby steps though. Tonight was pretty much a 35 minute cycle of walk 2 minutes, run 1 minute. Thankfully today went by fast. I went to bed really early to make sure I got plenty of sleep and, of course, woke up at 4am on the dot. sigh......I felt drained again all day long and in a bad mood to boot. ugghh. The gym helped but not much :( I'm already tired of working with some of these people at my job and we've only been back 2 weeks. Boy, the newness wears off fast!

I didn't realize that today was the last day of August. I thought I had one more day. Yikes, this summer has just flown by. I have a 3 day weekend and I am so looking forward to it. One extra day to catch up! I was so inspired by Roni's post about what can be accomplished in 15 minutes. So this weekend I plan to do a few 15 minutes and get things organized. And it was another successfull day! Although I did find myself hungrier today then usual and I kept wanting to snack all day but I did not cave...instead when I had my afternoon snack, I nibbled on it for like an hour.
I am however really missing my beer or a glass of wine - but it is not Friday yet so I need to wait.
Today the scale was down .6 I will take it, every bit counts.

I set the following goals for myself for the summer.
This summer I want to:
1. FINALLY develop an efficient and consistent schedule around meal planning, shopping and cooking
2. Go from reduced sugar intake, to sugar elimination. This one will be a serious challenge!

3. Eat copious amounts of veggies every day, particularly the dark greens

A week ago I stepped on the scale and was 220. Now this was after a week vacation and while the eating had been moderate, the wine consumption had been memorable. I wore my clothes for the first weigh in, hoping for a psychological boost when I stripped down a week later.
Yup. 209. I am smart enough to know that about 5 is the water weight and about 3 the clothes....but I am happy with the whole.
I tell 'ya people-I can't wait to get back into the normal swing of things--the routine I'm used to as far as eating goes.
Yesterday, as I replied to a couple of blogs here after blogging myself, my daughter called me into the kitchen. She and my husband surprised me with a birthday cake--a chocolate fudge one. (Had I known, I would have eaten way less pizza)
Of course, I had to have some-not only because I love that, but, it would have been rude not to.
So I did it. I hopped on the scale this morning. I was down 2.1 after being strictly on plan for 1 day. I knew some of the gain I saw was sodium related from eating out all weekend long.

Been a few days...because we lost power Sunday night (about 2:00 -2:30 a.m.) and did not get it back until Tuesday about 1:00 p.m. Been without a computer, a schedule, healthy food, or exercise for 3 days. Bah!

Well, I got on the scales this morning. Same as yesterday. 166.8....but hey it's better than gaining I guess!! Today I got up and went to my school. Yet AGAIN they fed us lunch which I was not expecting. Delicious pizza and salad...I just could not refuse and I did eat two kinda bigger slices.... I had a cookie and a mozzarella stick for dinner. Longish day, it felt like.. I went to all of my classes today, walked around campus on my still-somewhat-broken foot. It's pretty tender now, so I'm trying to take it easy at home, stay off of it.

Good grief - I was sososososo hungry today. I woke up hungry but lately my stomach gets a little upset when I have the yogurt/bran/flaxseed mix in the mornings with my coffee. It may be that we like our coffee super strong and it's just not a good mix. So, I've been saving the breakfast until after our first period break after 9am or sometimes - bad, bad - until after 2nd period. :( That's what I did today. I made a new recipe tonight. Potato Veggie Medley & it was excellent. Low calorie and low fat.
1 medium onion chopped
1/2 cup chopped red pepper
1/2 cup sweet corn
1/2 slice mini portabella mushrooms
1 can whole potatoes
1 boil in bag brown rice(success)

Is anyone else as excited for the fall as I am? Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the summer more than any other season. Coming from the northeast and hating the cold, summer is my only saviour. However, I am so excited for pumpkin lattes and candles, apple picking, and foliage. I'm also really excited to try some new fall recipes I've discovered recently.

Today I had junk--not all junk-but enough that I'm glad I don't eat like that every day.
