This morning I was so stressed. I laid in the fetal position and had the hardest time getting up. I don't have skills to cope with my emotions without eating them. I felt sick, my nose was sniffly, I was lethargic. I could feel myself nearing the edge of a cliff, scrambling to get back to safer ground. My depression was pretty well under control there for a few months. Got through the day with no meltdowns from me or the students. The school was so hot. It's just miserable. At 4, I picked up… Continue

What's the saying again? "No pain, no gain?" Geez, I am living proof of the pain part! Those weights definitely make you feel the pain....every where. But it's still a good pain :) So I found out today that I have tendinitious in my rotator cuff (not even sure if I am using the right lingo). All I know is that my left shoulder hurts any time I try to move it. The best part of this injury is that I had the pain BEFORE I went back to the gym. Yes, apparently you CAN get injured from being… Continue

I definately didn't stick to my plan food 100% this weekend, but that's okay. I also didn't stick to it 100% yesterday or today, but that's still okay. I did run on my lunch yesterday - whoo hoo!! It was an awesome run. I did the Jillian Michaels 30 day Shred Level 1 at lunch today!!
I am not giving up. Although I've eaten some not healthy food, I have eaten some really healthy food also. I am making peace with myself for craving sugar - I will give in to the cravings as long… Continue

I accidentally forgot to set my alarm last night before drifting asleep--I knew I forgot something! So I slept in 45 minutes this morning. I enjoyed it, but had a freak-out when I woke up and realized I was running REALLY late. My hubby was nice enough to take care of the dogs and I skipped a shower (gross, I know).
I've been super organized at work this year and I'm not feeling as stressed as I have in the past. It feels good to have things in a place, to be keeping track of papers,… Continue

I don't know about the rest of you, but I LOVE to sleep in! Not only is it good for your body to get plenty of rest each night, but I find myself so much more satisfied when eating meals and don't get my usual cravings. I eat less and I feel healthier. Maybe it is because you're essentially sleeping through a meal, but I don't like to think of it that way. I feel so much more rejuvenated and ready for a good workout and a day of healthy meals.
I'm a college student and this… Continue

Ok so I have a ton of questions to ask....need HELP!!
Ok, so I have this very serious addiction to Diet Coke (or just any diet dark soda/i'm not picky!) ... I have tried to quit drinking because I know its not the best thing for you and I drink ZERO water, I will drink soda alllll day long! Its bad - we have a soda machine here at work that is .25 for a soda and I drink them all day long! And if I don't have cash or change on me, I will stop at a gas station and use my friggin… Continue

Well, after 9 months of waiting, our little boy arrived on August 17th at 11:13 pm. It's been 2 weeks now, and other than feeling incredibly sleep deprived, I do not feel like I just had a baby! I am sooo ready to kick things into gear again, but I know I need to take it easy. So we've moved the treadmill to the new house and I will walk first. I ended up gaining 52 pounds with this pregnancy, more than I have in any other pregnancy. I am down 21 pounds so far at 14 days post partum. I have… Continue

Week three weigh in: 174lbs
Week two weigh in was 175, so I only lost a pound this last week....buuuuut I still think that is pretty good considering I cheated hard core. I had Wendy's, deep dish pizza, and a Chipotle burrito on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday respectively. I still worked out 3 times over the week, and other than those slip-ups I stuck with my diet.
This weekend we are starting a 'Biggest Loser' contest at my work, and the prize is going to be a gift card of some… Continue

I just spent a weekend with my mother driving to Louisiana. I need to decompress in an outlet she doesn't have access to, so I'm afraid you readers fill that bill. The post below has to do with mother issues, and not so much about weight loss. Feel free to skip it if you don't want to hear… Continue

So I have a collection of sweat pants... I'm a big, change into lounge pants as soon as the day is over, generally right after dinner, the bra comes off and the lounge pants get put on. These pants are a different beast then exercise pants. They consist mostly of Old Navy Just Bottoms, some comfy target yoga pants, comfortable pants, no old style elastic on the bottom sweat pants, just comfy cotton lounge pants. So, in an effort to focus on the positive, since I have been a bit unhinged lately,… Continue

Hi everyone! I would normally never ever do this, but since one of the topics often talked about hand in hand with losing weight is having positive role models that aren't a size 00, I thought you guys wouldn't mind.
My friend Heide is a tall, beautiful woman of average weight. She is comfortable with exactly who she is, even if it doesn't follow what quote-unquote normal is. She has helped me realize, over the past three years of our friendship, that its ok if I don't want to be… Continue

Anyone heard of this rule? It means that 80% of your results come from 20% of your efforts. You can read all about the statistical background on Wikipedia.
The point is that we spend a lot of time doing things that don't matter! I defintely see it in my work life. I think I feel the results of it in my neck and shoulders at the end of the day. I feel like I spend the better part of my day doing stuff that doesn't get recognized and… Continue

I'm better today, thank goodness. I took cold medicine this morning as a last resort and poof! the headache was gone. It must be a sinus infection. If it continues I'm going to the doctor because I don't want it to be a huge problem later.
For those of you who've been curious, this is my version of Frito Pie:
