July 2015 Blog Posts (40)

On track for the most part. I started c25k on Monday. It's changed since the last time I did it. It's only three days a week instead of 4. And it's 8 weeks instead of nine. But I did day 2 of week one this morning tomorrow is day 3. Since I was expecting 4 days of running I'm debating calling the 4th day free for all zombie run day. Maybe use my zombie run app and do 30 minutes of that and run as much as I can. Well see how ambitious I get. Also started calorie counting again. It's a little…

Surprising progress

So June and July were not the months I'd hoped. I want to laugh because I realized I wrote the same thing about June, and here goes a whole other month and I still haven't gotten it together.

Surprisingly, I've been losing weight. I know why, but I am still surprised because I haven't been meeting my specific goals for how to do food and exercise. But what has happened, is that I haven't been a sugar fiend. I actually have left dessert items alone most of the month, and like…

And where did July go?

It has taken me by surprise that almost 7 months of 2015 are gone. I am not where I want to be and I think I need to come up with a plan. I know I want to avoid those diets that are not sustainable over the long term. It has to be a forever deal & something I like and want to do. I do not want to calorie count. I do not mind the 21 day fix diet program. It is portion control. I count containers, not long lists of numbers. I don't eat meat any longer & dairy is very limited. I feel so… Continue

Still Truckin'

Not a whole lot to report here. I'm still truckin' along. I didn't make it to my WW meeting this week because I had my dad, sister, and her 4 kids in town all last week and they were just leaving on the day of my meeting. I HAD to make it to the grocery store because with that many people in one house, we couldn't keep stocked. While I had lots of indulgences while they were here, I still stayed on track pretty well with my meals. Even though I didn't go to my meeting, I weighed at home at…

It's been a little while. I've been working my ass off then I got lazy (well deserved). I completed my triathlon last Sunday. The run was about what I expected and took me the exact time that I planned. The bike ride was rough. The hills sucked and doing it after running three miles was hard. The bike ride took longer than I planned. The swim wasn't hard the worst part was getting my breathing regulated enough so it was in a pattern instead of panting. I passed like 4 people in the pool. I…

Is fat my destiny?

Weight - Up 0.6 pounds. I am getting no where!!!!

Mood- Feeling like shit. Fat & last week I had a root canal so basically it has been a shit week.

Exercise- Jogged 3 days & biked 3 days & I gained weight. Ugh!

My goal this week? Eat less. Eat wholesome. Veggies & fruit need to take center stage. I know what to do. I want to go back to the Dr. There has to be a reason why I can't lose weight. I do not want to starve myself by doing a diet I can't… Continue

Hey Friends --- well, karma bit me in the ass last weekend.

There I was minding my own business -- sticking to my diet plan and getting in my exercise when Friday evening neither the hubs nor I felt like cooking.  He had this bright idea to send the kids out for some fast food from Hardees and I went along with the idea.  BAD CHOICE, Linda!!  BAD CHOICE!

I got two cheeseburgers and fries. .... BAD CHOICE.  I hadn't eaten that shit in months.  I have been eating clean and…

Day 1

I am new to this site and plan to start on Monday. Any encouragement or tips about the site would be appreciated. I'm 43 yrs old and need to lose 80 pounds. My weight is really taking a toll on my body and I have to succeed this time. I've tried diet pills and quick weight loss diets and none of that has worked for me. This time I plan on eating healthy and exercising. Wish me Luck!!

I had three important meetings that required a lot of preparation- two last week, and one this past Monday. Totally became an excuse to blow off my exercise. Actually, not just an excuse- it really is harder to follow routines around exercise and eating, when you are stressed and pressed for time. And then afterwards, I was so tired that I just didn't want to give up that extra hour of sleep in order to get up in run.

I have been doing better on eating, simply because I…

Why no changes?

I always felt discomfort because of my excess weight. The only thing I kept dreaming of was to get healthier and thinner, of course. Especially, after I heard about the Duromine. Many people say they are very effective and pretty safe, if taken according to the prescription. I guess, if my diet doesn’t work anymore, I’ll choose them. That’s for sure. But for now, I am on my diet, hoping I…

Exercise will not work

Exercise will not work with out diet. I am still struggling. I think it is not so much what I eat, but it must be too much since the scale is not going down. I know I need to plan better, but I am too damn lazy. So what I have been trying is eating when I am hungry & making better choices. I am nervous about weigh in this week, but I have got to get on the scale so I can make adjustments, but if it is up I will be so angry at myself.

Back to the Grind

I've decided to really make an effort to add more of a weight loss/healthy living aspect to this blog, mainly to keep myself accountable, and, if there are some here who are looking for a buddy on their own journey, or who have good advice to give, etc (please, no sales, gimmicks, unproven tricks, silly tips you've picked up from the hack at the mall, etc. I'm not buying your stuff, so don't try to sell it here. I will eat fruit after 2PM, I am not dropping all carbs, I don't want your pills…

Brain dump on the subject of an "All Talk, No Game" post I read on a blog today...

I've been reading a new blog, Roni is the woman who started Blog to Lose and Fitbloggin'; she started her blog to keep her accountable, has inspired many to do the same, including me. I read one of her posts today, and so related to it, I had to sit down and write about this right now.

Are You All Talk, No Game?

Yikes. Is that so…

Summer Lovin'

OK.  Hitting the gym with the husband isn't THAT bad.  At the very least it gives us an hour and a half without nanas or kids.

I'm trying to adopt a glass half full perspective.

Let me know if I get too annoying.  ;)

2 lbs lost this week

So far so good for the week!  My weight was up just coming back from a 2 week vacation and I lost my vacation weight this week.  I got 2 walks in his week, a 3 mile hike and a 1 mile hike and although I wish it were more it is a good start. My goal is to walk daily and on my days off get the longer walks in.  Somehow I need to find a way to find time to walk daily!  Today started a new week for me and is my day off work and I'm happy to report that I hiked 2 miles, conquered my biggest…

Dirty Laundry

Even though it was a million degrees out yesterday, my husband and I still made it to the gym.  I went kicking and screaming.  He went willingly.  He has decided he wants to trim down and shape up.  We have both let ourselves go.  Although it's nice to know we are both working towards the same goals I have to admit this brings me back to a bad place.

I met my husband at the gym.

While he was living with someone else.

I was told she was just a…

Weekly Weigh In - 6/20

Weight- Down 0.8 pounds. Down 10.2 pounds since Day 1 (again)

Mood - Feeling more positive.

Exercise- Hit the bike trail today & went for a jog yesterday. It is the only thing that I am consistent on.

I am going to work toward working more on my food choices rather than calories. Eat when I am hungry, but pick veggies, fruit, grains or beans before processed foods. I am really going to make a serious effort to cut sugar out. I am not sure how that will go,… Continue

"Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels." supermodel Kate Moss

I say that because, I don't believe people don't want to look good in a bikini, have energy, feel healthy, be able to move around freely, not feel self conscious because your gut is giggling when you walk or hanging over your pants. We want to look good and feel good. Life is too short to not know…

Update time

I cannot believe I haven't posted in 4 months (hangs head in shame)!  I had a rough time after losing our dog Sophie and it certainly didn't help me on this journey.  I've also been continuing to have some health challenges which make exercise difficult.  I'm pretty much limited to walking and hiking currently and I'm happy to report that we have a new puppy that loves to accompany me on my walks.

We have taken a lot of vacation time over the last couple of months and just returned…
