So I sit here looking back at the past 39 years of my life. I have had a very good life, I have experienced pain like everyone else and joy right along with everyone else. I have always been an athlete and had the privilege of playing soccer in both college as well as the national team before succumbing to two reconstructive knee surgeries. I was still active but had suffered a tremendous loss when I was told I would never be able to play again. I shredded every ligament in my knee which was… Continue

These goals are where I want to end up; I am not doing these things consistently yet and I am hoping that blogging about it in a public space will give me the motivation to move closer and closer to these goals. Also, after this year I already have in mind additional goals, but I am trying to stay focused on the first level.
- Lose 60 lbs in one year: June 30, 2010- June 30, 2011
- Eating: Follow blogger's eating plan guidelines:…

In the About Me section I wrote out my general goals, and here I will elaborate a bit. I want to lose 60 lbs in one year, which I've read in a number of places is a reasonable length of time to meet that goal.
For eating, I plan to follow an eating plan from a blogger I read, fitnessista.com. (link at end of paragraph). I like her meal plan because it's really a set of guidelines, with samples versus a strict menu. I operate better on guidelines in other domains of life, so what I… Continue

I reached the top of the trail and looked around. A mile of steep terrain was in my wake, and I was 4,000 feet high, just above the tree line. My navigation system blinked over the bullseye indicating that I had arrived at the destination. I looked around, searching. Nothing stood out to me. I picked up a stick and started poking at the ground, stirring up leaves and overturning rocks. Nothing.
To my right hand side was a stone ledge, about eight feet high. The craggy ledge smelled… Continue

So far I have done okay this week following my hunger cues and truly tried my best to only use food when actually experienced physical hunger and not emotional. I even worked out almost every day. I havent't weighed myself , but I am starting to feel difference in my body and my face. a slight difference, but I feel like whatever I am doing is working.
Now , we all know that it is easy to get motivated and stay on track the first week. The harder part is to keep going and continue to stay… Continue

Okay, so I am really nervous to write this post. I feel like I am confessing a shameful secret. I have indulged without turning to food. Here is goes... I HIRED A HOUSEKEEPER! I am just tired of spending all my home time cleaning this house. Ryan (my fiance) tries his best to help me, but he is out of town during the week, so it is really not fair for him to clean on the weekends. And I work a lot and just hate that constant nagging feeling that I need to clean and tidy this or that. A part of… Continue

So, I've been having issues since I gave birth 3 months ago. They have mainly been issues with my bowels. Nice, huh? And I thought I had fixed it with starting Couch to 5K
. But, the problems came back. So, then I thought it was gluten sensitivity and went on a gluten-free diet
for a week. My symptoms nearly disappeared.
I went to my doctor… Continue

I passed another runner this morning, I passed her and then she never caught up to me and she was tiny, a wee little thing that looked like a "real" runner (yes, this is a whole other blog post). As I was running, I was thinking in my mind; 'ne'ner, ne'ner, ne'ner!!". It gave me a total high. But after I was finished internally gloating I realized that that this some really bad energy. I should be happy and excited that there are more and more people out on the trail, that I get way more good… Continue

until my first 5k which i just officially signed up for! This morning I did week 4 day 1! The 3 minute runs were a peice of cake! and the first 5 minute run was pretty good too although i did have to pause for like 30 seconds because i ran into a dog i groom and his owner and he was very chatty that was during the first 5 minute run.
The rest went smoothly, i did it outside… Continue

That is how my thoughts have been lately. I had a busy weekend with friends from out of town. I went overboard on food but got myself back on track Monday. The only issue the past 2 days has been afternoon/pre-dinner snacking. I was in a 2 day retreat for work and I brought my snack and lunch. I did great but then kinda blew it with snacking when I got home. I am still glad I was prepared and brought my own food.
My teeter totter of thoughts… Continue

Last night I made SkinnyTaste Italian Spinach Meatballs for dinner. Absolutely amazing. Best meatball I have ever had in my entire life, healthy or not. I didn’t deviate from the meatball recipe at all, except I made only half of it and I added fresh basil as well as parsley. Knock out hit. Making my… Continue

Well folks I weighed in last night at slimming world and I had a loss of 4lb- I couldn't believe it, I was so pleased. So I guess logging in here and not overindulging at the weekend really worked. Just 4lb to go and I'm at my goal weight. Now I hope I don't show a gain next week because of such a big loss.

Granted it was six hours, but it was still a complete night without crying/yelping. Yay! I didn't know if it would work, but I put his kennel at the same level as my bed and placed it near the bed so he could see my face all night.
I can't wait until I can get him to go in his kennel during the day and let me leave. But baby steps, I know...
My only plans today are to have a friend over for dinner and a movie (this hearkens back to my birthday… Continue

I always tell myself that weight loss is easier in the summertime... it is, right?!? watermelon, BBQ, fruits salads... ice cream, travel, too hot to workout, did I mention travel?
We just returned from a week in SoCal; Disneyland & Legoland... the brochures have a section dedicated to 'healthy eating, I didn't really get that impression once we were inside the parks! Yes, I ate wilted salad and diet coke, yes, I schlepped around a backpack full of Luna bars & water,… Continue

So again today I did C25K W1D1 in my apartment. I do feel a little stupid jogging around my apartment, but looking in the mirror afterwards to see myself as red as a tomato and dripping sweat, my heart racing, makes me feel like I accomplished something. And I did finish it all. Actually, I accidentally ran through the first running time, the first walking time and the second running time all at once because something funky happened to my app where it started vibrating instead of telling me to… Continue

No, no surprises on the job front. I did peek at the scale though. I was at 196 this morning, or 0.2 over my last official weigh-in. I know I gained a bit over the trek back to CA. (Seriously, how can you NOT when you're sitting in a car all day? I got in 2 workouts, but certainly not enough to offset the drop in normal activity.) I wasn't stressing and figured I'll weigh in this week. I honestly was thinking I might still linger above that amount since I haven't worked out in awhile (minus 1.5… Continue

I've been up North to take my husband to Norfolk, VA to visit with his daughter over Father's Day. It was good to get away from super hot Florida for cool and balmy late Spring days up North. I continued to monitor my eating habist and stuck to my plan of not eating from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m.
This is a hard challenge for me since I don't sleep through the night and tend to eat at 1 a.m. or 4 a.m. I tend to graze all night long. So this is a habit I… Continue

I now call my new puppy Riley my "baby practice" because he is just so little. He kept me up every two hours last night crying. He can't be left alone for a second because he gets into everything and he has separation anxiety because he's so young and never been away from his littermates before. If I leave during the day he cries so loud I can hear him outside while I'm out with my other dog. What have I gotten myself into?!?! haha. Lexie was such an easy puppy. She never whined or barked,… Continue
