Training body & mind.

Since my race I realized I must start working on speed. Tonight I ran a speed program on the treadmill. It went fairly well. I haven't run it for a few weeks since the weather has been great for running outside. I have struggled with this level in the past but tonight it was a little better. I am also working n being more mindful. Just began reading a new blog concerning this. I want to be happy & I am not sure exactly how to achieve this & hope following this blog will help.

So, following on from the birthday dinner last week there was the birthday party on Saturday. Fortunately the last such event for a very long time. Long story short- there was a lot of food involved, three cakes, pizzas, pastas, risottos... I'll let the numbers talk for themselves here.

Family Fitness Fun

I am trying really hard to set a good example for my kids. I want them to know that life can be lived in balance--with plenty of healthy foods and occasional treats. But even more than that, I want them to grow up with a love of being outside and being active. I want them to love the way it feels to get out and move. I want them to remember the days of heading outside after dinner in the summer and staying out until it is time for bed. Recently, we've been going for a family walk/ride after…

I completed my 5k. No PR, but I did beat last years time of 33:12 with 29:57. This year they changed the course a little & there was a killer hill. But I still did better than last year's time. I have a 10k in two weeks. I can't wait to take on that challenge. We got lucky as there was no rain. It was cloudy, but the downpours predicted didn't come. I mist would have been nice though. I got to go take a shower. I stink!

Weekly Update 5/28

Weight - Down 1.2 pounds. (Thank goodness)

Exercise - Kiliing it with running. 1st 5k is this am.

Food - Always a battle

Mood - Good. I have been off work for a week! No vacation, but any time I don't have to work is a blessing.

Hope I PR this race. My first one ever in the rain. :(

Flex Friday

I hit gym again today for my Max Out class. This is currently my favorite class. It is half spin/half bootcamp style class. I still don't love spin and probably wouldn't do a whole class that was spin--but it's a nice change of pace and a good calorie burn. The bootcamp part is definitely my favorite. I had 3 different people compliment me on my progress and asked what I was doing to lose weight (I started at this gym when I was already pregnant, so no one has seen me at this weight). Funny,…

Changing it up

I have been running for just over a year & really like what it does for my body. I need to change it up & decided to sign up for a 10k. It's a small local race & proceeds go to a good cause. I am going to sign up for a race a month for this summer. Running season is kind of short in Wisconsin. Still struggling with food! Ugh, not looked no forward to weekly weigh in tomorrow.

Day 39/40!

Okay so tomorrow is day 40; the end of the first phase of my program. I’m down a total of 22 pounds, which is super exciting! I’m starting to add back healthy fats that I was avoiding and will now be consuming more calories, but good calories! This program is really individualized and I’m looking forward to tweaking it to match my needs. I’d like to be down another 15 pounds. I can still lose in the next phase but I may jump into…

Birthdays... Love em, hate em...

So it was my partners birthday yesterday, and of course that involved food. I skipped breakfast and lunch at work to try and account for the calories I'd be consuming that night (peppermint tea to the rescue), and surprisingly that turned out to be very easy- I guess when you keep yourself distracted anything is possible.

Dinner was BBQ pork buns, falafel salad, Nachos with pulled pork, Potato wedges, Chicken Parmagiana wraps and a custom made Limoncello & Marscapone cake…

Back on the Grind

Trying to push that re-set button. I made myself a calendar to chart my workout activity, but kind of abandoned both the calendar, and my workouts, in April and May. I got very, very busy, and I'm trying to make my workouts a priority.

Tonight I am headed back to BodyPump class after a long absence. I already have to miss my Friday class for a meeting, and can't make it up Saturday morning due to another commitment. Sigh...

Diet has been off, and I am afraid…

One thing is for sure--maintenance is pretty boring. I find myself not having much to talk about and in general feel a little lost. I am such a goal oriented person and I love to see the number on the scale drop (who doesn't?) that once I get to goal I don't really know what to do with myself. I know that health is about so much more than a number, but when you take that part of it away, it is easy to feel like something is missing. Honestly, I'm pretty bored with my workouts too. The Y is…

And so another week begins...

Well it was a fun-filled weekend helping a friend move house. That was fine- until it came time for everyone else to indulge in lunchtime pizzas. Oh my god they smelt amazing. Instead I just sat there drinking a diet soda... It smelt so good I could have eaten the cardboard packaging!

Anyway have managed to keep on the downward trend- my graph is telling me late September I'll hit the magical 99kg...

21 May 143.4

22 May 142.6

23 May 142.4

Total lost so far…

Weekly Update - 5/21

Weight - Down 0.4 pounds. Eating too much crap.

Exercise - Ran just under 20 miles. Got in a 14 1/2 mile bike ride

Food - I simply ate too much crap. Lucky I lost a little, but diarrhea is the reason for that.

Mood - Disappointed that I am not making good food choices. WTF is wrong with me? I want to win this battle.

Next Saturday is my 1st 5k of the year. I am nervous, but I always get a bit anxious when it comes to these kinds of things.

So it begins... again...

So here's my story in a nutshell... I'm a 36 year old overweight sedentary office worker that loathes exercise. Before I started this most recent weight loss journey I had climbed back up to just over 150kg (at 202cm tall). I've tried all manner of weight loss things in the past, some have worked, some have been a waste of time (...and money- liposuction).

Some time around 2010 I got myself down to probably the lowest weight I've been since I was in my teens at 105kg- just 6kg short…

4 Years

4 years? Can it be true? My son turned 4 last Friday, which has become somewhat of an "anniversary" of sorts for my lifestyle change. Sure, it didn't happen on the day he was born, but he was one of the biggest motivating factors to get my butt in gear. I joined Weight Watchers when he was about 2 months old and soon after started at the gym.…

Plateau Defeted!

I reached the dreaded weight loss plateau! The program I’m working, the 40 day reset has solutions for that! Yesterday I ate a ton of apples, and this morning the plateau was broken! Down 20.5 pounds so far, my pants are super loose (my thin pants) and I’m loving my energy level and my confidence has skyrocketed! Super impressed with this program, would recommend it to anyone!

No Words

Well the last of the MIAs to check in.

I really haven't had any words that I felt were inspiring or would add value - so I've been laying low.    I've just been trolling by and commenting here and there.  I don't want to be the Debbie Downer for y'all while I've been playing with the same 5#s up and down.

Hello Friends

I thought I would stop in and say hi thanks to a special request from Paula.  xoxox

I really have nothing new to report.  Life, as always, is CRAZY.  Currently we have three big kids on their own, one big kid in the house, three teenagers, a nana, two dogs, two cats, one full time job, and two part time jobs.  Oh.  And a snake.  (Life Lesson:  when your kids buy animals for their girl or boy friends IT WILL at some point live under your…

I'm still alive but feel like shit

This broken record just can't ever seen to stay together:(

I have really been struggling to get back on track now for a few months. I wish this was easier. Life is so busy and I just got out of habit for taking my "me time" by the end of the day i'm beat and I can't get up any earlier.

I have no problem staying active, yes I need to do more but my biggest concern is my eating. Do ya ever buy all those healthy groceries then It seems something comes up everyday and throws you…
