No matter the plan... we all Blog to Lose!
The accursed Girl Scout Cookies are GONE! I showed some restraint this year and didn't buy a CASE of Thin Mints.
Now...the cheese I bought for Cheese and Cracker tray on the other hand....whoo boy. Apparently childbirth does something to your tastebuds. Somewhere along the way, I've developed a taste for Pepper Jack cheese. Aldi's has a smoked pepperjack right now that is FANTASTIC! I had a good bit of that, with Ritz crackers, last night, and some wine. The heartburn I had was…
So okay Ive been slacking like a Motha lately. Im not going to sugar coat it at all. Ive been eating pizza having girl scout cookies drinking tons of soda yeah. Idk why. Im not like over eating though, all in moderation. Still felt guiltyyyy~~~
Okay so its been a very long time since I got on the scale. Since the HUGE letdown. When I finally got down to 165 and then it skyrocketed back up to 170 in a matter of 5 days. I was so flipping heartbroke from that. I sort of just needed a…Continue
I've been so busy reading/replying to everyone else's that I haven't blogged in a while! :)
I think things are about the same with me. At least 6 days a week, I do well, usually. I didn't do so great on Valentine's Day and I was not great on my daughter's birthday. (but better than Vday)
As for the 1000 hour challenge thing for January-I think I bit off way too much--I started the challenge late and I didn't give myself any wiggleroom for illness, plans,…Continue
Well, it seems that I have survived the month of celebrations. And not too worse for the wear. Weigh in for the DietBet starts tomorrow and I will be close. Fingers crossed that when I step on that scale I will see a payoff. Even if I don't make it, I still call February a success because it could have been a disaster and it wasn't! I am proud of the choices I made and the amount of exercise I got in this month.
Last night we went out do dinner for the husband's birthday.…Continue
For 2013 the company I work for implemented a Wellness program - last week we had an introduction to meditation, today we kick off a 7-day junk food free challenge. Now, I know what "junk food" is - this should be easy, right..... I'm on 2 weeks of giving up diet coke, I've had 2 cans in 2 weeks, rather than 2+ per day and really I don't miss it. Not sure what the 7-day will have me giving up, I have a few crutch foods I used (even on WW - I count them but they're not good....). Time…Continue
More snow has hit and school has been canceled again. I just spent most of the day prepping sub plans for Thurs and Fri since I will be gone to a conference, but those sub plans may be moot!
I'm excited about my conference--I present on Friday and I'm nervous about that, but I'm happy to be going. It always makes me excited to teach.
We're eating clean still--and eating down the pantry and what we still have. Here's today's meal plans:
B: steel cut…Continue
I've puzzled here on the blog why, if the equation more calories out than more calories in = weight loss, my body seemed to defy simple math. I discovered a researcher today who says that this calorie in/calorie out formula is not correct. Why have I never heard of Gary Taubes before?
He argues that a calorie is not a calorie is not a calorie. In a nutshell, he thinks the type of sugar that ends up in your body and how it affects insulin and insulin…
I can't tell myself to be cautious and avoid being excited and happy. I just want to be happy right now, no matter what happens. I just got the first positive pregnancy test that I've seen in two years, after a series of 3 miscarriages. Of course I hope that this pregnancy will result in an actual baby, but right now, I am actually so so happy just to see that stick get a second line! As bad as miscarriages are, It's incredibly demoralizing to hope every.single.month for a solid two years…Continue
Hi everyone! I am feeling well today. I have been eating right and that feels SO good, for a change. Some of my history: I love food! I inhale it. I can eat fast or slow. When I eat fast, I feel so icky. When I eat slow and enjoy every bite, I feel quite satisfied. I began this weight loss journey when I was about ten years old. Not my idea, but my parents and grandparents began to be concerned that I would get fat. Chubby I was. Did I know it? not then. Did I learn that there was something…Continue
I have been slacking a bit and have made it my goal to faithfully use MyFitnessPal for the rest of the week. I do so much better when I log my food and track my calorie intake and workouts on that site. It's time to get back to my good habits. My classes start up again today so life will get even busier. Without tracking my eating I could easily lose control and I don't want that to happen!
Well, I did fairly well ye
I think I've made it to Day 16 of Body Revolution. Or at least I know this is the second day of my third week. (I didn't post anything about last week since the workouts were just a repeat of the first week and I already said anything worth saying about those.)
However, I was able to begin a new workout yesterday - after completing the inital three workout DVDs in the cycle four times each I was definitely ready for something fresh. I popped in Phase One, Workout Three for the…Continue
ACK! We got a LOT more snow last night and school was canceled. IF we have school tomorrow, that means I'll only have seen my students for 1 day! I have a conference I'll be at from Thursday through Saturday, and I'm excited because I get to present!
Hubby and I are still going along with our whole foods journey and eating down our fridge and pantry until we can replace the stuff we have with whole alternatives. For example, for dinner tonight we are having tacos. I…Continue
The big news this morning is the Mediterranean 'Diet'. Olive oil! Fish! Fresh fruit and veg! Nuts! WINE! (No kidding!)Not to reduce your waistline per se, but to cut stroke and heart disease. That was nice of them tp point out, just as I discovered how delicious just plain EVOO is on salad. I'm burnt out on 'American Salad'. Am I being followed? Under surveillance? lol. Last night for dinner I made Chicken Bacon Sliders and had a side of Spring Mix,with some fresh mozzarella, basil,…Continue

This quote really resonated with me. We say it a lot here- but it is so true......
"Forget past mistakes. Forget failures. Forget everything except what you're going to do now and do it."
-William C. Durant
This goes back to getting stuck in a rut and then a downward spiral. Beating ourselves really gets us nowhere. Action is what it is all about!!!
Love yourself! Forgive yourself! Treat yourself right!!!
We all deserve it!!!
Have you ever had one of those weeks were you were quite pleased with a maintain at the scale? This was that week. One of my goals for this week was to eat more and I definitely reached that goal. Hahaha. A little too much I suppose. In one week we celebrated 3 birthdays and went out of town. I would imagine that if I had either my birthday celebration or the trip to Texas I would have had a loss. So I learned a few things this week...
1. With the amount I work out, I can eat more…Continue
