93 Days and Counting - Saying goodbye to the 280s

So I'm attempting to blog from my phone. Just wanted to post my weekly update before I fall asleep. I weighed in today at 279.5 so I can say good-bye to the 280s.

Rest days revisited

I've decided that maybe I should back off on the weights a little bit. I did them today, but I'm going to skip them until Saturday. I'm thinking I'll also skip yoga on Thursday this week. My elbows hurt, and I'm not sure if it's the weights or the downward-facing dog. Possibly both. I just don't want to make it worse. After that, I'll just do them every other day, and eventually increase reps or whatever. I don't think I'm doing myself much good by doing the same thing every day 4-5 days…

I pushed through! =)

Ok, I need to be honest, but Sunday I did not do a 3AM workout because I was so exhausted from the ER trip with my baby. I figured it was more important for my body to get rest than to stress it out and only get 4 hours of sleep. Yesterday, I didn't get to my workout again because I was just have a horrible day, but I didn't turn to food! I did notice today that when I came home from classes I snacked a little; a couple of almonds and these crazy thin pretzel things and I didn't portion and…

Staying in control with not so healthy eating....

I don't know what's going on. Maybe it's the weather this week - dark, gray, polluted, cold and rainy yesterday and today. I still maintain that the weather doesn't make a difference in my mood but my husband says otherwise and blames it on that. It was another day like yesterday where everything just built up - starting FIRST thing in the morning with the coffee pot literally spewing water several feet high out of the top. Don't ask because I don't know! I tried to overlook the little…

Craptastic Tuesday - 1.31.12

Ughhhhhhhhhh!  Quick post about my cruddy day.  The realtor called this morning, and while the seller had verbally accepted our offer last night, after sleeping on it, they decided to counter instead.  It was so ridiculous and petty, my husband and I had a long talk about the situation.  We both love the house, but were already paying a bit more then we wanted, so after out long talk we called the realtor and basically told her to tell them to shove it.  We made a lot of concessions for/to…

Bye Bye January

It has been a busy week.  I survived my trip to Seattle last week and I was actually able to lose 1.4 pounds so I was super excited.  Learned that the world did not end if I passed by a bakery without stopping.  Learned eating half a cheeseburger and fries will not cause me to gain 5 pounds.  Learned the value in planning ahead before a trip and talking myself out of bad choices but giving into a few special choices.

I got in a 7 mile run on Sunday.  I have 6 weeks until the 1/2…

My Taco Idea

I had a moment of frustration when trying to plan out my meals for this week.  My hubby is still on a soft diet from his surgery and I just didn't feel like cooking every night for dinner, especially when I had practice every night until 5:30.  Enter this wonderful, hare-brained idea.

I decided to do a week of taco night.  But, since I get bored and sometimes downright can't eat the same thing every night, I changed the meals slightly.  Monday I had taco salad.  Tonight I had…

I woke this morning feeling suprisingly good. I just finished up my second dvd and it wasn't as intense as the first but still let me feeling like I can take on the world. The weather is great it's 61 degrees here in Illinois with the sun shining bright so I am taking the kids out to the park to run before winter weather settles in again. Glad I have so much energy I am realy to tune on for the Biggest Loser and baby my hubby who is out digging and breaking up cement today he will tired and…

First Week Restart

Hi All! Am at Starbucks for the afternoon and decided to try their Mocha Light Frap. I was surprised that it didn't taste so bad. They said it was made with nonfat milk. I wonder if the flavor would satisfy me more if I asked for it to be made with 1% milk. Any starbucks fan with tips on ordering their drinks without ruining my points for the day?

The interesting thing about when I was checking the points value for the light mocha frap was that a grande and a tall -- they were…

Goodbye Groundhog...

The next 3 days, which complete Days 1-10, are all about support: Asking for what you need, identifying your support systems and appreciating good support.  I am very lucky in that my entire family is supportive.  My husband has drastically altered his way of cooking to accommodate me - although once in a while he says "I know you like this with less butter but I just had to make the original recipe... but I made a plain ___ for you."  So the "good stuff" still sometimes makes its way to the…

Let's start with the good stuff--

For starters, I had a great time with my mom! She never mentioned my weight but I could tell from her expression that she had noticed I've gained weight but she kept it to herself; which was just the way things should be. Overall, we had a lovely time catching up and watching the sunset most evenings on the…

First Weigh in

I am 4.4 lbs down.. and riding the high from that. 6 more ounces and I will have lost a 5lb of sugar.

This analogy works for me because it is visual. That 5lb bag of sugar was on my body. To have the gone and see is a great feeling.

Thank you Eric Ord Baker for the idea.

morning coffee...

I am a coffee drinker. Before I do anything else for the day, I have my coffee. 2 mugs' worth. My kids are trained to ask, "mommy, have you had your coffee yet? I need _________". I didn't always have this habit. My husband is a big coffee drinker and we started a routine before we had kids of sitting in the early morning having coffee and watching the news, then getting ready for work and starting the day, etc. etc.

Well now that I am a busy mom of 3, waking up early is my…

Monday, Pre Weigh in Jitters - 1.30.12

Ok, is it only me or does anyone else get pre-weigh in jitters?  I do!  Even though I had a great week, I'm nervous every freakin' time!  Argh!  Deep breaths, deep breaths.  Also a little added stress to my world; our offer was accepted!  Oh my gosh, what have I gotten myself into!  Argh!  It will be a standard close, so in 30 days (or so) it will be ours!  Just nuts!  We probably won't actually move until mid-June, since we would like The Kid to finish off school here, however, now I feel…

Motivating Monday

Today was just one of those days when it just doesn't start out right and goes downhill from there. It's like I made the mistake of getting out of bed! LOL Lots of little annoying things kept me going and so I left in a bad (really bad) mood. My first instinct was to say 'screw the gym, let's go for chinese'. But I didn't bail on the gym and definitely didn't go for chinese. Oh boy but I wanted to though. The truth is that I really didn't even want the chinese food. I was just tired and…

Major NSV

On Thursday, I ran for an hour and I pulled my pants up the whole time.  They were my regular pants that I usually run in.  Then yesterday, my engagement ring finally couldn't hang on anymore.  It's a size 7.  I stopped wearing my wedding ring a long time ago bc it was too big, it's a size 7 and a quarter.  So today I didn't wear any rings.

I went to walmart and got a cheap ring to be my temporary stand in until I get the others resized.  Then I bought 3 pairs of size large danskin…

Ready to run

I'm not sure if I mentioned it on here, but I signed up for my first run of the year a while back. It's in mid-March. My workout plan has me start running (for very short durations) about three weeks from now, so that would give me about a month to work up to it. It's only a 3k, which is about 1.8 miles, so it's an easy distance. Plus, it's a pretty low-key event that a lot of people walk, so if the date arrives and I still can't run, I can still get my t-shirt and enjoy a nice morning walk…

Weekly Goal Day 1

Well I started out the goal with a bang. I just finshed a 62 min. extreme fat blasting Bob Harper workout. I am so proud of myself I really wondered if I could make it through the whole thing and I did. I have to say that finishing it made me realize how much I've been under estimating what I can really do physically. I however may not be able to walk but it was worth every min. of it. I have another 50 min interval workout by him scheduled tomorrow so can't wait to see what…

Off to another good start

Today went well. No snacking or over eating. I made a sandwich using lefse that I found at the grocery. It is a potato tortilla (kind of) The ones I found are very plain and only 60 calories for 2 triangular pieces. Very low fat as these did not contain oils or butter. I am glad I found these as it gives me an alternative to bread. I usually eat whole wheat pita bread that I found at the grocery, they are made out of ingredients that I can pronounce and come in at 140 fat/free calories. I…
