"I get it. The only reason I know about the dry shampoo tips is because my stylist is obsessed with the stuff and now all of her clients are too. Hope you have a wonderful walk today and that the TX heat isn't too bad!"

Wednesday Week-in-Review

I've decided that I need to take some time each week to see what's gone right, what could've gone better, and think about goals for the upcoming week. I figure Hump Day is as good as any, so here it is: The Wednesday Week-in-Review.What's Gone Right1. I've avoided fast food. This is a HUGE success for me. If there's an excuse to get fast food, I will normally take it. This is especially good because I'm not supposed to eat gluten. I have a moderate case of celiac, but haven't let that stop me…See More

"Thanks for the nice comments, ladies! The desire for immediate results will just slow me down in the long run because of frustration, so I really appreciate the reality check. It's so inspiring to see those who have done it and kept it off."

Down but not Out

I stepped on the scale this morning to see a decrease. I'm down to 207.4. That's 1.6 lbs lost. I'm feeling both proud and tentative about it.On the one hand, I'm down 1.6 lbs!! I haven't seen the scale move in that direction in months. On the other hand, I've got so far to go that 1.6 lbs seems insignificant. So, I'm going back to what I said the other day. I have to be a friend to myself and love me first. Here's what I'd say to a friend who was telling me that she felt this way.First of all,…See More

Off the Wagon/On the Wagon

This is getting old for everyone involved, especially me. It's been almost a year and a half since I blogged here. And it shows.A year ago, I was just picking up running and was working hard to get in shape. Around November, I was the slimmest I've been since having my son - around 186 lbs. Today, I'm back up to 209.I'm tired of the roller coaster. I've been on this ride since I was a teen and I'll be 34 next month. I've spent 15 years thinking about the size, shape, and weight of my body. I…See More

Profile Information

About Me:
I've struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember. I was a chubby kid, a chubby teen and now an overweight adult. Now, with a beautiful daughter, a sweet son, and a wonderful husband in the picture, I realize that the four of us deserve more than just some unhealthy foods that satisfy us for a moment. We deserve the best that life has to offer us. I'm beginning to realize that my weight has nothing to do with pregnancy, childhood habits, or taught behaviors and has everything to do with how I feel about myself.
Plan of Choice:
Other, None
Workout Philosophy:
I love lifting weights, I only exercise because I have to

Finally, a Reward That Makes Me Excited

Posted on February 25, 2013 at 12:38pm 2 Comments

Since last week, I've been dealing with a nasty virus that basically felt like a sinus infection, double ear infection and strep throat all in one. I took some time to relax and am starting to feel better. I did keep an eye on what I ate all weekend (although, I tend to drink much more on weekends). Today, I'm ready to get back into the swing of my workouts.

And to keep me motivated, I have a SUPER EXCITING reward in store! A good friend invited me to go to Hawaii with her for a week…

Thanks for your comment!  I also just came back after being gone for years and it's really nice to see some familiar faces.  Reguarding your latest post, I know EXACTLY what you mean about being frustrated with the fact that you still struggle with the same stuff you did years ago, b/c i had the same experience when I came back to BTL and looked back on my old posts.  It's a little disheartening but at least we are striving to be better!

Hi Ashley! Welcome back! I am finding it difficult to get into a routine but I won't give up. Life is full of things to distract from these fitness goals and I don't want to let them take over! Feeling good about yourself is so important, I am struggling with the same issues. Here's to getting healthy!

Thanks for the non-food reward suggestion, makes me realize I need to assess every aspect of my attitude towards food. I know my mom used food as a reward for us as kids and does it to my kids when we visit, I wonder if I am just following in her footsteps? Interesting thought. Have a great week!
