bodybugg'n it

Posted on September 19, 2010 at 3:02pm 6 Comments

Do you wear a bodybugg or GoWear Fit device? I just purchased a bodybugg last weekend. I was sporadic at entering my calories consumed last week. This week I am hoping to track them 100%. What I have learned so far from the bodybugg, I already knew. That is, I am a extremely slow burner. My husband burns twice as many calories I do on a daily basis. He is a bit more active, so I would expect his burn to be higher and just the fact that he is a man. I wouldn't expect my numbers to be like…

Married 12 years today

Posted on September 5, 2010 at 10:22pm 4 Comments

Twelve years ago today, I married the most wonderful man. We met at work, fell in love and started a life together. When we started dating, I had just lost about 35 lbs. It was my first time of ever living on my own. Prior to that time, I had either lived at home or shared apartments with my sister. On my own and living in downtown Seattle, I had to feed myself. Sure sometimes I would bring home fast food, but for the most part, I tried to eat healthy as I knew it. Since I had the evenings…

Not quite on a roll...

Posted on September 1, 2010 at 12:04am 6 Comments

I'm still a long way from having things figured out. In fact, the past eight weeks have been pretty bumpy as I struggle to eat out less and find ways to move the ole creaky body. One of my biggest difficulties have been trying to plan a menu for the week where I balance the carbs and stick within my calorie limit. This is the first week that I have a completely planned menu. Now the slightly less difficult part, sticking to it.

Off to a slow start, I have lost 17.5 lbs in my…

Alone in the house with Taco Doritos

Posted on July 24, 2010 at 12:27pm 4 Comments

I'm trying hard this week to lose the weight that I had gained in week 2. Yesterday started out good, but then Taco Doritos entered the picture. Read last night's post at for the back story. My husband is heading out to go work on my sister's in-laws computer. This could take several hours and means that I will be home alone with a half bag of Taco Doritos (I love them). So far I avoided devouring them for breakfast, which…

Thanks for the comment, it feels better when someone notices! :) I hope your back gets better, my back's an issue, too. My whole body's rebelling to doing anything healthy, but that's just part of the battle. Best of luck!! ;]

Hey Tammy! I saw your post on another blog entry about your shoes slipping up in the heel. I have had that problem for as long as I can remember. When I finally got fitted for running shoes I was still having that problem- it has to do with the proportions of your foot and how wide your heel is. Ask about tying the laces up in a different way. It's made a WORLD of a difference for me; I can finally wear shoes and go running without putting holes through the heels of my shoes! Here's a link with a video demo of how to do it...

Hi Tammy.

I had baked oatmeal on vacation & fell in love with it. I surfed the internet and found one that I really liked and was low fat. I hope you like it too.

2 cups oatmeal
1/4 cup brown sugar (or sweetner of your choice)
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1 tablespoon apple sauce
1 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 cup rice or soy milk
1/2 - 1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)

Mix and spread in a 8x8 pan sprayed with pan spray
Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes
Cut into 6 rectangles
Each is approx 165 calories

I love this recipe and reheat a bar each morning. You can try other fruit like apples or rasberries. I hope you enjoy it.

Hi Tammy! I hope you like this recipe after you make it. I really like it and it is low calorie and fat, but will satisfy. It is one dish I seem to have every week for breakfast. Even in summer. Hope you have a great week.
