"You are NEVER to old to go back to college. I am 42 and had been putting it off for years due to money, raising my kids, etc. Finally I realized I wasn't getting any younger and took the plunge. I will be graduating at the end of the year and I…"

Midlife Moments

I just realized I have been on Blog to Lose for almost 5 years and I'm no better off than I was before.  I am starting to feel like I am heading towards my midlife and I really need to get serious about losing this weight and getting in shape.  I want to live longer than the life expectancy test I did in college.  At that time,I was thin - 120 pounds but due to hereditary issues my life expectancy was forecast to be 70.  That's right - 70.  Cancer on my mom's side and heart disease on my dad's…See More

"I agree with Sue.  Sometimes we don't eat enough.  Sounds scary- I know.  I have seen people at my WW meetings not lose until they ate all of the points they had.  You kind of have to play with it and see how you get your…"

"Congrats on the loss! Just a thought...maybe you should be eating more of your weekly points? I know when I was going to WW I had my best weight losses when I ate all my points."

"I feel the same way! I lost 1.4 this week, but I feel like I put in SO much effort for that loss. So do you typically eat all your activity points, but not your weekly points? I just started working out pretty heavy this month and I wasn't sure…"

Down One Pound - Finally

Posted on January 29, 2013 at 8:59pm 4 Comments

have to tell you that one pound I lost was hard won.  Time on the treadmill, weighing my food, counting all the points, tracking everything.  I did have 40 weekly points left after using all of my activity points so I was hoping I would lose more but guess not.  This has happened before for me - I can eat the activity points but can't eat the weekly points or I never lose.  If I am on the treadmill for half an hour daily doesn't that count?  I did an hour on Sunday and afterwards could…

Thank Goodness the Holidays Are Done

Posted on January 6, 2013 at 10:22pm 5 Comments

Have you ever heard the statistic that people only gain 1 - 2 pounds over the holidays?  I would love to be those people.  I gained - ready for this? - 8.5 pounds!  What in the world was I thinking???  I have got to do something different next year!  Maybe my new plan will be to only make 2 kinds of cookies each for my husband and son.  I just realized I made 10 kinds of cookies and candy this year and ate way too much of them!  You know it's bad when your fat jeans are tight.  Really bad! …

Cold Weather Blahs and Thanksgiving Planning

Posted on November 11, 2012 at 2:00pm 3 Comments

This cold weather is making it hard for me to want to do anything.  Thank goodness for Christmas shopping and my Leslie Sanson dvds otherwise I don't think I'd ever get out the house or get any exercise.  Only 10 days left to Thanksgiving and this year I'm making something for me - a green salad.  I think my sister-in-laws will eat it with me so at least there shouldn't be much to toss.  I only like salad with the dressing fresh on it.  I'm not a fan of soggy lettuce.  Anyone else have…

Halloween and Chocolate

Posted on October 22, 2012 at 10:26pm 4 Comments

This year, like every other year, I have eaten my weight in chocolate.  I think the best option for me is to quit buying all of the little candy bars for the trick or treaters since I eat them all and then have to buy more.  This year, I am buying full size candy bars and in the exact amount I need so I can't eat them before Halloween.  If I eat them, I will run out and that won't be good.  Good idea?  Or does anyone have a better idea?

Small Town Mom, thank you so much for your advice on the burn. We were really good about keeping an ice pack tied to his hand for the first 12 hours, so it didn't blister as badly as expected. In fact, the only blister he has is about the size of a penny on his palm right at the intersection of his ring and pinky fingers. My friend is a pediatrician, though. I will call her and see what she thinks. Thanks again!

I've been meaning to ask - what area of MN are you in? I'm in SE ND.

Oh, I know that he will lose weight faster than I. He's a big guy and I've been at it a while so it's harder for me. LOL.
