Weigh in Wednesday

This morning I weighed in at 171.2. I'm not sure how much I weighed the last time, but it's usually 171.8, so this isn't bad news. It's insignificant enough to be neutral, though. But I'll roll with it.Yesterday I went way over on calories for no good reason. There's this thing that happens where I'll be sitting on the couch, and boyfriend will sit down next to me with an entire box or bag of crunchy snacks, which I then mindlessly eat. I could ask him to not bring the entire thing over, and he…See More

Since I'm back on the calorie counting bandwagon, it only makes sense to post my counts here, for accountability. The word "count" appeared a lot in that sentence.Anyway, I'm supposed to net 1670 calories every day in order to lose a pound a week, according to The Daily Plate. So, starting with...SaturdayI spent a fair amount of the day cleaning, so there's that. The only exercise worth recording was 50 minutes of horseback riding. The Daily Plate has various options for horseback riding, so I…See More

Willpower?

I gave up coffee for a week. It's not that I drink a lot of coffee, but I drink it every day, and I definitely feel dependent on it. Anyway, I successfully did it, and I didn't enjoy it, and I'm looking forward to resuming the habit on Monday. I'm going to try to not drink coffee every day, though. You know. Avoid the dependency. This proves that I don't totally lack willpower, though, right? If I can give up coffee for a week, why not, oh, I don't know, excessive calories?Yesterday I ate a…See More

"Fast" is relative

I've kind of slacked off on running over the last week due in no small part to the heat. I've also been prioritizing riding over running because for some reason I'm nervous about this rinky dink little horse show at my boarding stable that's coming up. I don't get nervous about horse shows, usually, but I've been worried that my aging equine isn't really up for this one. I am feeling better about it after a couple of solid rides, though.Anyway, I went an entire week without running, which was…See More

I have started to get into "better" beers. It definitely does limit me. No only with price, but higher calories :) Thank you for your thoughtful post!

I don't have a trick for push ups, I just don't try to get very low.  My first ones were just barely bending my elbow and back up.  I hardly moved at all.  Then I kept doing them, and eventually I got more bend and realized I wasn't going to drop myself.  Of course I already said that I started up high with my hands on a surface and my feet on the floor.  I'm now learning to do them properly with my hand under my shoulder not out in front of me like I used to.  You can do it, it just takes practice like everything else.  Good luck.

Sometimes just not feeling alone in a situation is helpful enough :) So thank you! I decided to give meetup another try and found a new group that meets much closer to me...so I am hopeful something will come of that! Even if it's not lifelong friendship, it could at least be something to get me out of the house to do something other than work or exercise. I hope you had a wonderful day!
