"To Julsbake - Go for it. Sounds like you can only do better! My turkey trot was "ok" as well. 41:07 for a course that was about 4.2 miles. I was hoping for something around 38-39 mins. But I attribute mine to the crowds - over 2500 runners…"

"Hi kiki - Start here (http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml) and don't worry so much about moving from week to week if its too hard. It is okay to stay on week 2 for 2 (or more) weeks if that helps you and keeps you working at it.…"

"60 minutes is a pretty quick 10k pace, so don't worry about that. Most 10k races don't have that short of a time limit - if they did, no "normal" people would attempt them! Most races expect to have walkers in them, so anything…"

2 weeks, so far so good.

Well two weeks of tracking (almost tracking actually, as I try to get back into it) and I am down 2.5 lbs. Was a little disappointed the first week as I was about the same. But stuck to it and lost this week. Writing stuff down, even if I don't have exact points and might be a little off is at least making me accountable. The biggest problem I have is that I don't put points to things until the next day sometimes and that makes for some surprises. But all in all, still not bad. On the exercise…See More

"For Michell - To follow-up on Rhonda, I would start with more walking (fast/brisk walking). So 6 minutes walk, 1 minute run for a few days/times. Then do 5 min walk and 2 min run a few times. And keep adjusting until you can run 6-7 minutes straight…"

Getting serious

Posted on October 7, 2011 at 9:03am 6 Comments

So far its been a good week. I only started tracking food again yesterday, but on the exercise front, I have been so good. I went to exercise class Monday morning and evening. As well as Wednesday and Thursday mornings. And I ran (for real, not just a mile) Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday after work.

As for food tracking, I decided at my WW meeting yesterday that I really needed to get back to this.I'm not going to lose any weight if I don't pay attention to the point+ of the…

A new commitment

Wow, I cannot belive that I haven't posted since February. I have been through 2 sessions of WW at Work (17 weeks in the spring and then 12 weeks for summer) and have been doing okay. The first session I lost 20 lbs. And for the summer I have maintained (ok, I stopped tracking and just didn't have the will power to do more than just maintain with all the events, picnics, etc.).  Fall session starts next week and I want to lose 10-15 more lbs. To do that I have to make it my business to track…

Fess Up and Follow Up Post

Posted on February 14, 2011 at 10:46am 1 Comment

Following through on Roni's challenge to post about bad and good habits...

Just joined WW at work. Last Thursday was the first day.

Fess Up:

1) sneak mini chocolate chips (about a Tbsp) and don't count the PPV

2) have to force myself to eat fruits and vegetables, even though they are zero PPV

3) can't walk into a grocery store without buying something sweet

Follow-up:

1) exercise like its my job :-) I love to go to classes…

Back to School, Back to WW

Posted on September 13, 2010 at 10:21am 0 Comments

This summer has been bad. About the only thing I did right was go to exercise classes. Eating was just too hard to control. So, now that things are back to normal, I plan to try to get back on track, start cooking with WW points in mind and control the snacks/junk.

I have a "Turkey with 40 cloves of garlic" in the crock pot for tonight (Yes, that is the name of the recipe from teh WW cookbook. I put in the cloves from 2 whole garlic bulbs - did not count them). I went to Boot…

Thanks for the comment. I will have to give those dvds a try. I definitely would love to get some cardio in with it, help with the fat and not just the firming. Thanks again!!

Thanks for your insights on running, they are GREATLY appreciated. It makes me feel good that I am not the only one that prefers running outside (and I seem to just be able to run for so much longer). I have done two 20 min. runs this week on the treadmill and am hoping to do it again today and hopefully get outside this weekend. Good luck with your training!!
