Profile Information

About Me:
I am a mom (active at my son's parent participation school), I am a wife (to a husband currently battling cancer) and I am a part time engineer. I am good at following a plan, but falter in maintenance. I have gained and lost the same 10-15 pounds many times since hitting Lifetime 8.5 years ago, most recently having lost it in 01/10 and regained it in comfort eating in the early days of my husband's diagnosis (07/10). I did couch-to-5K in early '09 and loved it. Fell off the wagon that summer, but came back to running in 01/10 with the encouragement of a couple of friends (we ran a 5.5 mi mud run in 03/10). I am currently training to run a 9K in November (trying to run 3x a week), trying to get a grip on the comfort eating (trying to get motivated to get back on plan), trying to figure out how to break the yo-yo of these same 10 lbs, trying to set a good example of exercise and healthy eating for my son, trying to help my husband maintain his health and just trying to keep my head above water.

Underestimating WW Points+

So, I looked in my handy dandy food guide and saw "Popcorn, 94% Fat Free, 5 cups, 1 Pt+." I thought to myself "That must be how much is in one of those big bags. I can eat that whole thing for 1 pt. Sweet!"

Wrong on SOOO many levels. First off, according to the box I have, there are 2 servings of 7.5 cups each in one bag. To add insult to injury, there are 7 points+ in one whole bag, not the 3 you might think (15 cups = 3 x 5 cups, which means total pts+ = 3 x 1,… Continue

Eating Out & Bleeding Points

I don't usually eat out all that often- probably a couple of times a month. It isn't a stand against eating out, it's more just that the cost adds up to fast, both in the wallet and on the scale.

Boot(ie kicking) Camp

Back at the end of December, through a fudge-induced haze, I read an ad for a 10 week boot camp being offered in January.  It was quite a deal- 10 Saturday morning sessions for the bargain price of a $20 donation to the Boys & Girls Club of Silicon Valley.  It's a good deal for the boot camp company, of course, in that they can tap into all of us New Year's resolution makers and maybe get some permanent clients for their regular boot camps.

Thanks for the comment! Yes- I have been trying to rediscover "me" too :) I forget who I am sometimes and I know that finding myself will only help me lose the weight that I need to.
