About Me:
I am a 28 year old wife and mother of 3 children! I work part-time over Medical Records at a short-term rehab center.

I’ve always viewed myself as heavy, ever since I was in elementary school. (That view came from society, of course, as I wasn't a 'stick' figure.) I’ve struggled with a low self-esteem for as long as I can remember. As far as diets of any sort, the first attempt started in 6th grade when I became anorexic. The next year I did some weird fiber cookie diet thing. So the yo-yo roller-coaster started in Junior High and I’ve been on that ride since. I’ve done everything from South Beach Diet, Slim Fast shakes, Weight Watchers twice, diet pills bought from the television that I can’t even recall the names of, Meredia, Phentramine, etc. you get the picture! And with each attempt I’ve ended up heavier than when I started.

Looking back even 9-10 years ago when I felt I was real heavy, I looked pretty good. That's my goal is to get back to where I was around 9 years ago. I am on my journey to lose 80 pounds and to create lifetime healthy habits that I can also pass on to my children.

Day 6- HCG

I wanted to do a little update, even if this is only for myself. YOU'RE DOING IT!!! Sorry, had to do a shout out for myself. I've done 4 days of the 500 calories and I'm surviving. To be very honest for anyone else who may be considering the HCG diet, the first 3 days of 500 calories was extremely hard on me. Ok, I'm not going to get hung up on the should haves, could haves, etc. Bottom line is this...I'm up 20 pounds in large part due to a new medication added for my bi-polar. The doctor warned me before starting it that it was the main side effect but that because of where I was mentally at that point, that was the least of his/my worries.

I very quickly wanted to post and get myself accountable again to posting regularly. I've started seeing a therapist and I'm hoping that we're on to some good things with clearing out the 'junk' in my head. I started an additional medication that although I didn't feel was really doing anything different initially, I've since decided it is helping in subtle ways that I wasn't realizing.

Not sure. Beautiful can definitely be something on the inside and outside. In general, I feel pretty confident on what I have on the inside.



The best description I can give of beautiful (remember this is MY perception)...in the ideal world to me...

Your goals are a start. It is hard to always come up with some and I always seem to tweek mine as I go along! I had to laugh a little when you said one of your goals was to only eat out once a week. I laugh because my husband and I for the longest time were thee worst about this. What I have found though now that we only go out on rare occasion is I feel better, we are saving money, and my weight has come off a bit faster. Stick with it! It will pay off in the future!

That makes perfect sense, actually. When I was doing the "Lose to Win" contest sponsored by my office, we had talks each week. One week, a guy speaking on nutrition told us about something called "the set-point theory." It says that your body has a set-point, or a weight that it wants to maintain ... and it takes about 6 weeks of maintaining a new, lower weight before you can re-set your "set point."

As for my goals for the month, they're modest ones. I want to lose at least another 5 pounds and continue with the C25K training program. So far, so good. I did Week 2, Session 2 today ... and I'm down 3.4 for the month's 1st two weigh-ins.

Until recently, I've had trouble keeping track myself. As soon as I strayed from what I thought I should be eating, I'd stop tracking for the day (and then eat other bad stuff, because I wasn't writing it down). I got a new cookbook, "Weight Watchers 5 ingredient, 15 minute meals," which helps because Points values are already attached.

Thanks for your sweet comment. I'm glad I can inspire someone. ... But you must not have read my post about Wednesday. The only good things I ate all day were a granola bar and a salad. The rest of the day was one BIG fast-food blowout. Ugh.

A reward for not eating out for a week or two? The natural — but not so smart — suggestion would be a meal at our favorite restaurant! :D

But how about a pedicure or downloading a couple of new songs from iTunes? (If you don't have an iPod, you could get yourself a new CD with some of the money you save by not eating out!)

Thanks! I think it's a great idea to use your blog to work through those thoughts and feelings ... and if you don't want everyone to read them, you can mark the post either "personal" or "just my friends" when you post it.

I've noticed that feature on the posts, but I haven't used it. I just mark all mine "everyone." But if what you're going through is too much for you to want to share, you might consider that. It'd still let you blog, but without letting everyone read it.

I just saw your comment on the post about banning fast food. You sound so much like me a few months ago ... or even before I started doing Atkins. That summer after my parents died, nothing sounded good, so my roommate and I were eating fast food all the time. We'd sit around asking each other, "what do you want for lunch?" "Arby's?" Nah. "KFC?" Not so much."Del Taco?" That doesn't sound too bad.

We'd circle around the choices for a while before finally settling on one that sounded good to both of us. (I went from 306 to 275.5 that way, but I wouldn't recommend it.)
