The numbers game is working! Every time I think about eating, I think about how far I have to go, and tell myself that unwise choices will just increase the time it will take me to get there. Each morning I focus on the fact that I made it through yesterday and am one day closer to my goal. I have released 6 pounds, so I recalculated and my efforts have paid off! I have a love/hate relationship with numbers. I have always preferred words because there is always a substitution. Numbers, on the other hand, insist on accuracy. I am always acutely aware of the numbers in my life and seem to be forever counting down to some event. I am also competitive when shown estimates in numbers. The GPS says it will take 10 minutes? Bet I can shave off a few and make it in eight! The treadmill says I have burned 150 calories? Oh, that will never do, let's make it 200!… Continue

In the beginning...

This is me, at the start of my journey. Today is April 9, 2014 and I have about 170 pounds to "release". I use the word release because I don't want to lose weight only to find it again, I want to release it, for good, and in doing so be set free. I'm starting a blog to hold myself accountable and keep track of my progress. I hope to lose two pounds per week, which will take 85 weeks. I plan to weigh in and take new pics every Wednesday.
