About Me:
I'm a 911 dispatcher working shift work and trying to lose weight and live a healthy lifestyle. I'm 36 years old, happily married with 2 daughters (9 years and 6 years old). I'm done with all the excuses and ready to lose the weight now that we are not having any more children. At my heaviest i tipped the scales at 230lbs. I am currently 204lbs (Aug 2010) and have completely changed my lifestyle by tracking my food on livestrong.com and making time to exercise. I don't have a goal weight set in stone, i'm sure i'll have a better idea down the road. Maybe 160lbs???? Or a size 10/12???
GOALS:
Get below 200lbs: buy myself a new top ***Aug 31/10 reached goal - purchased top Sept 9th - now a Large instead of a XL******
190lbs: a massage
180lbs: fashionable pair of jeans
170lbs: facial
160lbs: boudoir photo

I've been good for 1/2 day....maybe i can keep this up

Posted on December 22, 2010 at 12:26pm 2 Comments

I've exercised and tracked my food.  I know it doesn't sound like very much but it's been about 3 weeks since i've done either of these together.  If i exercise my eating is crappy and if i eat right i don't have the energy to move.  Last night i wanted to eat but chose to go to bed early.  Maybe i'm turning over a new leaf and i just might get below 180 in January.  Wouldn't that be nice!

picking up some old habits

Posted on December 7, 2010 at 12:56pm 5 Comments

Stopping at a drive-thru b/c i'm running short on time and haven't planned for the day.

Only drinking 2 glasses of water a day!

Tracking food only on the good days of eating.

I'm not exercising as much.

Drinking red wine while wrapping Christmas gifts.

Giving into temptations like McDonald's triple thick eggnog milkshake.

Now, after 5 months of creating good habits why is it so easy to go back to my evil ways? I've gotta snap out of it. It…

In the 180s in what seems like forever

Posted on December 1, 2010 at 12:47pm 4 Comments

I've been in the 180s since the middle of October. I started this journey back at the end of July weighing 211 lbs. From the middle of Oct to now our family has had four birthday celebrations, Hallowe'en and Thanksgiving. I was quite happy to see my weight somewhat maintain and not skyrocket since i know i haven't been putting in the same effort as i was in the beginning. Looking back that's 7 lbs in 2months, quite pathetic. I guess it's time to get off the couch and do something about…

Cleanse

Posted on November 24, 2010 at 2:22pm 0 Comments

I'm a big fan of all of the weight loss shows like Biggest Loser, Last 10 Pounds Bootcamp, Bulging Brides, X-Weighted and recently there were two episodes where people talked about doing a cleanse. The trainers were against it if the person was only doing it as a form of weight loss. I've never done a cleanse and don't think i'd have the dicipline to do it but just wondering if anyone has. If so, did your energy level go down? Did you still exercise while on the cleanse? Did you feel… Continue

gained .4lbs

Posted on November 20, 2010 at 3:07pm 0 Comments

Just like The Biggest Loser. I had a great week last week (-3.1) so this week is a gain. I'm so frustrated with the scale. At least taking my measurements every 3 weeks is satisfying my efforts. Weight loss seems to be slowing down so i'm considering going back to the beginning and doing Jillian's 30 Day Shred. I'm on week 4 of the Couch to 5K and i'm just not seeing results. I enjoy running but i think i might cut it back to just 2 days a week. I should be happy right? I'm in a size 12. I…

my scales seemed to be on a flat surface but, could be mistaken. but I weighed 3 more times and I got the same weight so,I'm gonna stick to that weight which is a -4 lb loss. I added Roni's progress template today and have it saved on my computer so I can keep up with my weigh loss.

Dot,
No, unfortunately, I didn't start blogging until just about a few weeks before Roni started Blog To Lose....I just didn't know that much about it, and I was spending all my free time on just searching for recipes and food finds....and cooking...and eating,....and doing dishes. And then, oh yea, I have to work too (also unfortunately)...tehehe. But hey, thank you!! for the great comments. Sometimes I almost can't believe that I've done this. Tomorrow night is my 50th week on the WW plan when I weigh-in after work. I was definitely hoping to be at goal by now, but.....I'm OK with it, mostly because, I've decided that this is how I want to live the rest of my life....this wasn't just a diet and as soon as I'm there I can go back to eating junk again. Good luck to you, Dot....again, I just think you're the cutest thing! I LOVE your haircut!

I actually don't suscribe to any regularly but I do find myself picking up Shape and Fitness an awful lot, lol...I would definitely have to say those two are my favorites over all the other women's fitness magazines. Give both copies a try next month, see what you think! Oh and be sure to let me know what you decide ;)

Correction! lol...I meant SELF...I accidentally typed in the wrong magazine name. It's SELF and Fitness that I tend to pick up the most. I apologize for the confusion! lol

oh my goodness, Dot, i am teary-eyed after the comment you left me; i ALSO am still wearing my baggy pants which are unflattering but "comfortable", i am mostly buying only new tops to show off my slimming waist and my "girls"! YES, WE CAN DO THIS. i vow to blog more and i promise myself to stay committed. we have come so far and have so much to be proud of and WE DESERVE to experience that sweet victory when we cross the finish line. thanks so much for your kind words and i look forward to being "blog buddies"

Thanks dot,
My husband is super supportive. He works out 4-5 times a week and really tries to get me to the gym too. My plan is to start as soon as my boys go back to school next week. Always easier when I just have myself to worry about. I have 5 weeks off until fall quarter so that should give me enough time to start a routine. I have about 50 to lose to be at a comfortable weight for myself.

Hey Dot! Thanks for the comments on my page and my progress! I edited my post with some pointers on how I did it so far. Feel free to ask any more questions if you have any. CONGRATULATIONS on losing the weight from your highest, and continuing again even after falling off the wagon (that's what happened to me too) just keep at it and Good Luck! I think the main reason I keep at it this time, is to be a good influence on my family and my "future children" I don't want my children to have to go through what I did. I may not have had good role models for healthy living while growing up, but I can BE one!!!

Holy Crap! Do I EVER!!!!! It's like ordering something off the " Weight Watcher's " Menu at Applebee's. I often wonder it the waitress is thinking " Yeah, you SHOUD be ordering this..." Why should I care what someone else thinks, or doesn't? Yet, I do... And chances are, whatever I'm choosing to eat isn't even a blip on their radar!
I see that you are a 911 dispatcher...I'm a Firefighter/Paramedic!

I love what you said on Jessica's post! I totally feel obligated to eat what everyone else is , I am getting better at it, but you are so right about it being inside our heads. Great comment!
