UGH. It's been a different kind of week. Part of it was fun- I had days off! I took a long weekend to run my fourth half marathon, the Diva run in San Francisco. My mom came along and did the 5k. It was all so super fun, and check out how they treat Divas at this run:…See More

About Me:
Weight loss has been a back burner goal for me for awhile... at least 10 years, but now I want to put this on my priority list. I actually have exercised at least 3 times per week, usually 30-min walks, for the past 4 years, but I have never worked consistently on changing my poor diet. I plan to use this blog as a check-in point to make sure I work consistently at two goals: eat a healthy diet, and increase my workout frequency and intensity. Also, I plan to read others' blogs for insight and tips on how to achieve these goals.
Plan of Choice:
Low Carb
Website/Blog:

Workout Philosophy:
I only exercise because I have to

Vegan Challenge

Posted on April 26, 2013 at 7:12pm 4 Comments

In my blog reading I came across the 7 Day Vegan Challenge, and I decided that I will use this challenge as a fun way to jumpstart myself into eating better. I know that eating well is just like building any other habit- that starting is really the hardest part of the battle. Once upon a time, I never exercised. Now: I run 4 days a week; walk one hour 5 days per week; and do a strength training class two days per week. Each component…

The End. Begin Again.

Well.... I went to the doc on Friday, an appointment I'd put off until the last possible moment. Pregnancy had been proceeding without incident, but also without too many noticeable symptoms. The day I reached 11 weeks pregnant, which I never have reached before, I started "spotting". (TMI: very light bleeding, intermittent). I crossed my fingers and me and the bf went to the doc two days later for the scheduled appointment. And.... there was an empty sac- the fully formed placenta with no…

Super quick

I just wanted to say hi, I'm here, and I'm reading posts. I have nothing new to add, well, maybe to celebrate that I have really managed to re-incorporate walking into my life. The walk is a one-hour walk home from work, a distance that gets results for me. This is the beginning of Week 5. I walked:

Week 1, 5 days

Week 2, 4 days

Week 3, 3 days (I was sick)

Week 4, 5 days

I am taking today off because I didn't sleep much last night and I'm…

Thanks for the comment Dee.  I needed someone to tell me the wine was okay tonight! The meals were good so far this week and I will share the recipe for tomorrow night if it turns out good!

Hey Dee, I have to check out that tracker. I've used a shape one, and another one (I forget) and they were too annoying for me. But I will check it out because I love that you are able to see the progress. I journal my food (not diligently) but this will help me do it at home and at work. A win! win! Thanks for the support!!

Thanks for the comment Dee!  Let's root for each other and give each other the kick in the pants we need.  You can do this - we can both get back on track to keep moving forward with a healthy lifestyle!

You are SO right.  And thank you so much.  BTL is a good outlet - and I felt a million times better after writing the post - I know what I NEED to do, now I am going to actually DO it.  Baby steps - one meal at a time, one choice at a time - if I do the best I can each time I am presented with a situation that offers choices - then I will be successful :)

Thanks for the comment! Yes - I put my celery and my asparagus in water.  It keeps it alive for a REALLY long time.  Celery lasts about a week and a half longer than usual (just cut off the bulby part at the bottom), and asparagus stays good for about 2 weeks. Change the water once also! Crunchy and delish!

Me too!  They used to call me the chart lady at work b/c I'd make charts for EVERYTHING!  I love graphs and analyzing data changes, so the whole counting thing works out for me, too.  I love it.

Agree that we have to find what works for us.  For me, weighing in daily does mess with me.  I know the scale fluctuates so much, but sometimes it just brings me down if I see I'm the same or up a tiny bit.  I think I'm going to have my husband put it somewhere and get it out for me on my weigh-in day (Sunday).  I'm also going to get a little notebook and just write down what I eat.  That way, I'll be more mindful.
