"Happy Birthday to you. 35 is young. You really have gone through some serious changes huh? But you are blessed. A great family & hitting your healthy goal. I am glad you're still around here telling us all about maintenance."

Better with Age

Today is my birthday--I turned the big 3-5. Honestly, I never really understood the big freak out about getting older, but maybe that's because I feel like I am getting better with age. Haha. At 35 I am more confident in my own skin, feel strong and capable, and like where I am in life. I have an amazingly supportive husband and 2 great kids (that only drive me crazy some of the time. lol). Sure, there are always things that could be better, but I am living a pretty blessed life.…See More

"Yes! I love a love/hate relationship with my foam roller. It really is the only thing that helps work out my sore muscles after a killer class (especially my tight hamstrings and quads). It is uncomfortable in the moment, but works so good!"

"Do you think you will ever start posting here about your successful loss & what life is like in maintenance? It seems there are a ton of weight loss blogs out there but none or very few maintenance ones. I imagine the kids have grown so much…"

"You rock! That's a lot of years of tracking! I agree that tracking is key to losing (and maintaining). The cool thing is that we can each find the exact way that works best for us. For me, the thought of tracking for the rest of my life makes…"

Profile Information

About Me:
I am a 30-something year old new mom who is loving life. I have a wonderfully supportive husband who is also a great father. We are blessed. I am not new to weight struggles. In fact, they've been there my whole life. In 2006 I lost 65 pounds and met my Weight Watchers lifetime goal. Unfortunately, over 40 of those pounds crept back on in my first year of marriage and then even more weight during pregnancy. I am working to get back to my lifetime goal--but more importantly, to get fit and healthy to keep up with my son and help him establish a healthy relationship with food.
Plan of Choice:
Weight Watchers
Workout Philosophy:
I'm a gym rat ALL the way, I'm new to exercise, I love lifting weights

What's cookin'?

Posted on February 12, 2017 at 4:12pm 4 Comments

So, it's been awhile....in the past that would have meant that I fell completely off the wagon, wasn't living a healthy life, and so I was avoiding this place. Not this time! Life is just busy with 2 kids, working, and trying to spend some time with my husband. Life is also kinda boring at maintenance. In the past, I loved posting about weekly progress, sharing pictures, or talking about challenges. Now it just kinda seems like the same old boring talk all the time. However, I will try and…

Still Steppin'

I just completed the 2nd week of my StepBet Challenge. So far, so good. I have been able to hit my goal Mon-Sat and then take a rest day on Sunday.

It has definitely motivated me to move a lot more. My husband is participating also, so we've been holding each other accountable. We are…

StepBet--My Next Challenge

Posted on July 4, 2016 at 8:08pm 6 Comments

I've known for awhile that I needed a new challenge--beyond the scale, so when I saw StepBet I decided it was just what I needed for now. Here's how it works: I signed up and paid my $40 fee. They assign me an "active" goal (9,259 steps) that I must meet 4 days a week and a "stretch" goal (12,859 steps) that I must meet 2 days a week. And that leaves one free day a week. These goals were chosen for me based on my past FitBit data. Honestly, I rarely make it to 10,000 steps unless we go for a…

Another Yum

Another Emily Bites success. We tried out the Layered Chicken Enchilada Bake and it was delicious. It was a too spicy for the kids, but my husband and I both enjoyed it.

The best part is that…

Christy - thank you so much for your comment on my blog from yesterday. I think it's an amazing idea to take pictures from your heaviest to your lightest. What a great "true picture" of where you were and how far you have come. You will get this weight off in no time. You sound very motivated. Thanks agian. Tanya

Hi there!

Go and get the Wii Fit. It is a lot of fun and a good workout, if you do it right. It isn't a replacement for more serious exercise, but a great supplement. Since I live in Austin where it is starting to get too freakin' hot to do anything outside after about 8 am, this will be great for those days I can't get into the gym. :)

Christy,

Thanks for the great suggestions...I would do an egg yolk and egg whites for breakfast more often but I haven't got too much time in the morning before work. What do you normally eat for lunch?

I'm trying to answer you on chat but it's not showing my responses anymore...if you get this...I'll try buying the WW products. I'll just have to budget more cause they are alittle pricey :-)

Oh and we can be online C25K buddies! haha...best of luck to you too...and don't worry if it was a bit hard, that's what makes the program so awesome, you can take it at whatever pace works best for you. Surely enough you will build up endurance though...or should I say WE will ;)

I wish I could find an indoor track! It's DEFINITELY too hot to run outside here in TX. It's breaking 100 degrees every day, it would just be murder for a beginner runner to attempt that, lol. An indoor track though, ahhh I wish. But I think that's a very smart and sneaky plan...no pool unless you've run first! I hope it works out for you!

Hey Christy...thanks for the comment. Other than the WW bread, what other breads count for 1 pt with two slices? I typically go for whole wheat grainy breads. I'm not really a fan of white breads! Hope you had a good day!

I sometimes pring out my stuff or I've used kodakphotogallery.com and through photoshop you can get your pages right on there and then I print out a book! I need to get better at it though and actually print stuff out!! How do you do yours?
