I loved the mix which completely suprised me. I'm sorta narrow minded for my music "likes" and you're right, the tempo helped me move along. Also, i ran outside for the first time today and really enjoyed it. I won't give up but it will take me longer to do the program. Good luck with the 8K....that's amazing!

Hey Nubia! Here's the link--http://www.runnersworld.com/newsletter/0,7127,,00.html. I signed up for a few of them, but the one I was talking about was "101 daily kicks in the butt."

Thank you for the website info - I'd never heard of it and it looks great. One of the (wimpy) reasons I've never actually done the C25K, though I've thought about it a lot, is because I could never figure out when to switch from running to walking without staring at my watch the whole time. The chimes seem like they'd be perfect. Thanks again and good luck with your 8K!!

I am currently using the Trader Joe's brand long grain brown (basmati?) rice. It tastes kind of grainy but I think it's because the grains are super long. I don't notice a bad taste. I usually mix it up with my chicken and veggies and eat it all as a stir fry type thing for lunch. I have tried and liked short grain brown rice- it is more chewy, like the brown rice at Pei Wei's.

I'm using the Hal Higdon 10k novice plan: http://www.halhigdon.com/10ktraining/10knovice.htm Thanks for the link to your plan, I'm definitely going to check it out! I don't know about you but I never thought I would be training to run anything, let alone a 10k or half marathon (which is my ultimate goal).

Hey Nubia, I agree with you about interval training. I used to do intervals with different speeds and inclines, and PACE is only slightly different. They're both very intense, but make you feel so good!

Pizza made with Flat-Out bread. Kind of like a big tortilla. It's 1 WWP ( old style) and it makes great pizza crust or wrap. I get it at Kroger's. Wally Marts has it too, up with the deli stuff.

Big news: I moved into a house!  It's been crap on my eating habits and I'm finally realizing how bad it's gotten.  I've gained (ugh) 18 lbs since I stopped everything health related.  I say 18 more or less b/c it may have been bloating or whatever happens when you just eat anything on site.  I was nervous about the loan, nervous about our bills, and well, in no mood to pack and cook/workout.  Yep, excuses.  I know, moving on.

I am finishing my first week back on WW (new…

Feeling good.

It's been a long day but a good one.  I went grocery shopping but still had wings for dinner.  They're awesome and the only time my hubby and I eat wings.  It's somewhat hard for us to go out with the kids being so young without making it awful for them.  I don't know how they manage to not get too bored while we're at restaurants but it seems unfair for them to sit through our date.  Lol.  We baked them at home and I had a Coke, too.  I can't believe it's getting easier to enjoy a meal and…

Race was awesome!  Came in at 67 minutes.  I didn't even know I was going so fast (for me!) b/c I had the biggest smile on my face.  I feared my knee would act up since it hurt the few days before it.  Turns out it was the weather b/c it happened again today and it was raining/temp. dropped.  OMG, all my race pictures have this goofy looking person that looks somewhat like me but it's hauling ass.  LOL.  Too bad the race people didn't even include me in the race results.  I had to email them…

Don't know what's different this time around...

But e/thing's going well.  I think it's because I've stuck to few meals and few snacks.  Not that I didn't have either of one, but I stuck to the same recipes.  Fish, brown rice, lettuce, frozen veggies, frozen fruit, yogurt, milk... blah blah.  I haven't felt deprived and I honestly feel better than all this time trying to reach my goal weight.  I don't have one anymore, I don't know if that's bad.

I have also decided today's the last day I'm having fish for a long while,…

Quotes/Videos

"Running is a big question mark that's there each and every day. It asks you, 'Are you going to be a wimp or are you going to be strong today?'" (Peter Maher, Irish-Canadian Olympian and sub-2:12 marathoner)

"Do the thing you fear, and the death of the fear is certain." (William James)

"They can conquer who believe they can. He has not learned the first lesson of life who does not every day surmount a fear." (Ralph Waldo Emerson)

"Act as if you already are. This is one of the many mantras that we employ when it comes time to go after a goal that is beyond what has already been accomplished. Breaking new ground physically requires you to first break that mental barrier so that it can come into being." (Terrence Mahon, Team Running USA's head coach)

Here's a small video of my first race, it was awesome!
