My goal is to work myself up to running a 10km and hopefully a half marathon in the next year. Thinking about aiming for the Flying Pig in Cinncinnati. The longest race I've done is an 8km trail run…Continue

Hello all. I need some advice. No matter what I eat, when I eat, I ALWAYS get heartburn when I run. Any thoughts on this and what I can do to stop this? It's killin' me!Continue

My turkey trot was "ok" as well. 41:07 for a course that was about 4.2 miles. I was hoping for something around 38-39 mins. But I attribute mine to the crowds - over 2500 runners in it! The start was slow, almost walking for the first quarter mile. And the end was slow - had to leave a sidewalk and go down a trail that was only about 2 people wide. But it was still fun. And that's what its all about! :-)
Comment by Melissa Eckels on December 17, 2011 at 8:23am Hi all! I'm new to this group and excited to be here! Quick bio.. my whole life (well, since I was a teen) I wanted to be a 'runner', I just hated to run. And I have always been overweight, at least by 40ish pounds. Recently, I had an AHA!! moment and joined a local gym. No more excuses, no more looking back. In 3 months, I have lost 20 pounds, went down 4 pants sizes (18 to a 12) and ran a 5K!! I'm running now several times a week and love, love it. I'm doing 2-3 miles at time. My goal being the Bolder Boulder - a 10K and maybe even a half marathon this summer. Maybe, just maybe, I'm on the road to being a 'runner'.

Comment by Carla Lockwood on January 8, 2012 at 3:03pm Hi - new to this group and running as well. Not sure I will be doing any real running right away, but I did start the Couch to 5k plan this week and I have started looking for races near me to set as a goal. I am not waiting anymore to live my life. I will stay safe when I exercise, but I have always been overweight and done sports so I am ready to enjoy myself again.
Welcome Melissa and Carla!! Melissa and Julsbake... I too hope to do at least a 10km this year and am hoping to be ambitious and also do a half marathon. And Melissa....by the sounds of it you already ARE a runner!! Carla....getting started is the hardest part...just stick to it, slow and steady and if you have a bad day shake it off. We've all been there!! Best of luck to everyone with their runs and keep us posted on your progress!!
