The Twin Cities Breast Cancer 3Day is August 21-23 this year. As a 1 1/2 year breast cancer survivor I will be participating in this amazing event for the first time ever. And this is in thanks to Elaine whom made the mistake of telling me that SHE is also interested in doing the 3Day someday! So out of that short little sentence came the reality that we WILL do the walk this year...2009!!

Elaine is from Oklahoma, so she is even flying to Minneapolis to participate! Can you believe that? I guess that is proof of the wonderful people you can meet here on Blog To Lose.

What we are looking for is CHEERLEADERS! Someone to push us along with our training and even help out a little bit with our fundraising! Their recommended training schedule is pretty demanding! And about the fundraising...each of us needs to raise $2300. And if we come up short, we have to cover it ourselves! (hence the motivation...lol)

If you are in the Twin Cities and are already registered for the walk, or if you are considering registering.. feel free to join us! We haven't officially created a team yet, but more than like will in the near future.

It's quite scarey commiting to this as we each need to raise $2300 to walk. But we are both so excited...and we'll be working our butts off fundraising and training all summer! Thanks again for joining our group!

Comment by Arlene on February 9, 2009 at 4:57pm: I've been thinking about doing the 3-day ... but probably the one down in Phoenix. And that whole $2,300 minimum thing scares the crap out of me, because I wouldn't have the money to supplement my total if I fall short.

My WW leader does the walk down in Phoenix every year, and she's leading training walks up here ...

Don't be scared about the money. It can be done. Ask 230 people for $10, right?!?! If you want to participate in the event but don't want to raise all of the money yourself, feel free to contribute to Robyn and me!! :-)

I am so proud of you guys for taking this on. Elaine, I really like your way of thinking...ask 230 people for $10, that makes the challenge much easier. We used to have a 2 day walk for the cure here in Wininpeg, but they don't do it anymore. So I'll be doing the 5k run in October, as well as the 24 hour relay in June. Both are for breast cancer research.

I wish it were tomorrow....but first I have to raise lots of moola-moola for the "save the ta-ta's" campaign!! I love the ad I see in magazine with a picture of a shoe that says, "Each step is the resounding stomp of defeating breast cancer" ....or something similar. You get the point! I'm glad to see that we have 10 members! Keep spreading the word to your BTL friends!

For example...my mother-in-law is donating a gorgeous homemade Jeans Quilt for us to raffle off! I'm trying to round up a couple other "big" prizes to include in that raffle...like maybe a Target gift card or something...but it's sure to be fun!

I'm thinking of selling tickets for $2.00...or 3/$5.00? What do you guys think? Too much? Or should I just do the straight $1.00 thing?

Also...when we're ready to start with it...I'm wondering if any of you would be willing to sell a few tickets for us? Even 10 tickets would help! Don't feel obligated, but it sure would help us out. And I'll cover shipping should someone from out of state win!

Can you tell I'm excited?? Good Lord!!
I hope I'm as excited when it comes to training (all that walking every week).
